I have also bought from Monica before. Her service and pens were excellent. It is really unfortunate that she is thrown off. Hopefully everything works out again.

Njmoose mentioned above that her eBay and PayPal accounts were hacked. So eBay probably shut them down as a security precaution and probably to sort out the mess, rather than her being "thrown off".

As to Erfobay, I had an extremely bad transaction with her:I bought Omas Paragon FP via eBay for 320$. Upon arrival of the item I found extremely bad defects of the finish, which has being reported to Monica. We agree that she will refund me the pen together with the postal expences ones I send it back. I DHLed it back, paying 100 Euros for the parcel but never got any money back.

I tried to communicate with her, but she always found an excuse in PayPal malfunction, bank account problems etc. My request to provide me with the phone number in order to settle the details was ignored.

After several months of such a dragging on I lost my patience and informed her that I'm going to repor the fraud to the eBay administration, since I have the entire correspondence at hand - she dissapeared from there next day.

So, on balance, I've lost almost 500$ with her.

Can anybody advise me what can I do in such s situation?

Thanks,

Ilya

I wonder if she got one of those hoax emails asking her to confirm her credentials. It happens to me all the time. I always put in fake info and report it, but I get them a few times a year. I get them mostly from banks, even from banks that I have never done business with. I had one Ebay one over the years, which my Dad entered in all of his info...he was using the account so I switched the email over to his. He wound up providing SS#, User, PW, Email, and Birth-Date and more. We changed the passwords on his accoundt and email and we never seemed to experience any negative effects.

I agree with John, not sure this is her..but...

I think her base was from Italy..though all the pens I have received were from France.

She sends from Paris (I still got the last address label), and the photo and description styles are almost identical.

This seller certainly looks like her.

OK,assuming it is her........does she send through France because there

are fewer postal restrictions(read: hurdles) to go through?

Monica lives in Paris. For my last few purchases, I have paid Monica by bank transfer. As part of the wire transfer process, I needed to specify the payee's address and the bank's address; both are Paris.

Well, even though it looks like her, I would not put my hard earned to test until it is proven that this new seller is her. For the time being, I consider this seller to be a seller that has 32 fb, nothing more, nothing less.

Monica lives in Paris.

I confirm this, she told me that even though she is registered as in Italy she lives in Paris... maybe one of us can contact the seller and ask if they are Erfobay?

Thanks!

Have sent a message, will advise when/if I get a reply.

This was the reply I got from my message:

"YES,she my friend and I'm accomodating her pen because her site

ebay and paypal has been violed by an haker october 21, normally

she can restart in full security in 10/15 days. Thanks and I will tell

her you wrote."

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

There is a simple explanation for Monica's absence. I have been following this thread as a vintage MB collector and as someone who has purchased multiple items from Erfobay. Monica is based in Paris, where I have had the opportunity and pleasure to personally meet her and share our mutual interest in vintage fountain pens. I have been in contact with her within the last two days. She has been absent due to a hacker attack on her account - pure and simple. I have purchased several high-value pens from Monica over the years, including a Medici. All my transactions with Monica have been uniformly excellent with items as described and accurately photographed. I have no financial relationship with her and just wish to add my voice to those of her many other satisfied buyers. She will have her business up and running as soon as she can. I hope that this information will be helpful to those who may be following this thread.

On this same website(which it has been explained that a friend of hers is

selling items for her)is a 146 Solitaire in gold and black. Can anyone pro-

vide answers to several questions I have about it--is it real(looks it to me)?

Is there a specific name for it other than "Solitaire"? And when was it made?

I looked on fountainpen.de and couldn't find any info on it.

It definitely looks classy.........

Have one I got from another FPN member and don't know anything about it other than it's one of my favorites. Beautiful, writes like a dream, and really stands out among the other pens. Very elegant looking.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
