Dunhill Sentryman - review

A long while back a guy I know showed me his Dunhill Sentryman and from that point I told myself if I ever get the chance to get one I will go ahead and buy it as his pen left quite an impression on me.

So Bryant had one and with his prices how could I say no to it.

 

Dunhill is considered high end pen maker and from my brief experience with this pen maker I must tell you these pens feel as solid as MB or Visconti.

The Sentryman I got is not a flashy pen. There is nothing that will make the average man stop and look at this pen. It’s made of a regular black body and silver trim.

 

The pen is not heavy and I would categories it as light to mid weight but closer to the light side of things.

It’s quite long, very well balance and feel natural and comfortable in the hand.

 

It’s got a metal section that feels nice in the hand even though I like resin section more.

Never the less in isn't slippery and doesn't cause any problems while writing with it.

 

The clip is attached to a ring that is placed at the top of the cap. It’s a spring loaded clip and is sitting very secured in my shirt pocket.

 

It’s a CC filler and there is nothing much to say about it. The converter is very long and holds quite a bit of ink in it.

 

I left the most important part to the end and that's the nib.

The nib is rather small and made of 18k white gold.

It’s a very stiff nib in medium size.

I had 2 surprises.

First this medium nib is on the narrow side of things so it actually feels like a fine nib on some other pens. Since I like F nibs this was good news for me.

The other surprise was how amazing this pen writes.

It’s a very smooth writer and has a nice feedback to it.

 

Conclusion

 

This is a pen you don't hear to much about and I am very surprised how good this pen is.

It’s not a fashion statement it’s a pen designed to be used and feels very well made.

I highly recommend this pen and the only thing I would change is stick a piston instead of the converter.

Tzutzik loves the pen, he can’t get enough of it and as a cat that loves MB he was surprised to see he can enjoy other pens as well.

I need to add 2 more thengs

 

1.The trim is platinum plated

2.This pen was designed to be used posted and unposted.

Its long enough not to have the need to post it but if you like posting your pens then this pen is for you, the cap sits very securly and feels very comfortable while writing.

I was reading in The Pen Shop magazine and it showed this Dunhill pen. they said it was a carbon fibre pen thats why its light. Is that this pen or is it a different Dunhill

I dont like posting my pens but I did try it just to see how it feels.

Well it posts very securly and feels good so if you like posting your pens then this one's for you.

No, this isnt the carbot model, this is a regular resin model but still a good pen.
