finally, after about 2 weeks of waiting, the visconti millennium crescent! here you go!

 

appearance and design: 9/10!

 

ohhh, orange and swirly! what could be better! this pen is a demo pen made from clear resin with orange swirls that glitter when you hold them up in the light. the trim is gold plated i believe, and goes great with the swirls in this pen. i ahve to admit the the pen does look kinda funky with the crescent filler and all, but its cool, i like funky designs. the cap band on this pen is smaller than the one on my van gogh by about half, and is says visconti millennium two on it in block script. the clip and the arc on this have the parts where it would normally say visconti on it cut out, but they look pretty cool too.

construction and overall quality: 7/10

 

ehh, it doesnt feel as sturdy as my van gogh, but i think its because i can see the internals of it. i know its higher quality than in think because everything is a nice clean bit, and nothing wiggles around, even the crescent when i have the safety ring closed. the clip feels sturdy even though it has the logo area cut out, but i think that everything visconti is pretty sturdy. the crescent also feels as sturdy as the clip.

weight and dimensions: 9/10

 

what can i say, it feel like my van gogh except that the section is curved and there is an arc sticking out to fill it from. it feels like it weighs the same, the caps are the same dimensions, and all.

nib and performance: 9/10

 

ohh, so smooth, and ohh, so elaborate. never thought i would have the best of both worlds on one pen! the nib on this is made from solid 18 kt gold, platinized in some areas. i heard people saying that its bigger than i regular visconti nib, but its about the same size. mine has a medium nib, which is super smooth, and feels very soft on the paper. it has a different feel to it than 14 kt gold, so it feels weird to me, im not used to it, but ill learn to adjust for pens in the future.

filling system and maintenance: 9/10

 

yea, i think this may be one of the more interesting filling systems that you will find, as it makes the pen look quite odd to some people. you turn the safety ring so its open, then depress the crescent on the side and dip the nib in the ink, then you let go and it fills. quite simple, and cool. i really like it, its one of my fastes filler systems that i have, so good for just a quick fill up and back to writing.

cost and value: 10/10

 

i think that this pen was totally worth it, as i got it from bryant for a great price. his prices are hard to beat, and he always has the coolest pens for sale in the for sale section. thanks bryant!! :thumbup:

How does the cap post?

I've had two Copernicus pens that the cap had to be jammed on to the barrel, and I couldn't take the stress of the fear of cracking the cap lip.

Congrats on the orange Arc. Mine arrived last week from my pusher, err friend, Bry. I already had the red one and blue one, actually two of them, so my set is complete. I have had trouble with my blue ones. Both have developed ink sac leaks, the original clear sacs, not the tinted ones. Both pens have had the locking ring break. When they are working they are lovely pens with the usual large V nibs. While some may prefer the looks of the stacked celluloid Copernicus pens, the Arc has the better nib and feed. The feed on the Copernicus does not hold ink as well.

 

Anyway, congrats again, use it in great health. Man we sure are lucky to Bry around to relieve us of spare cash!! :thumbup:

nice! so now you have one red, two blue, and one orange? you must really like these pens! yea, the original sacs that were used in the blue ones were not very good, they had a sort of plug thing at the end, and the sac was not very soft i was told. yea, these pens hold some ink, but when that nib touches the paper, this thing gushes!

yup, he does have great deals!

 

gary, the cap posts fine, just like the cap on my van goghs, it just slips on, slight pressure will make it stay in place.

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

yea, the clip is the same shape as the crescent, but the crescent is smaller. all visconti clips are like this, except for the old style ones, like i prefer. too bad i dont have any...

DANG! That's the best looking crescent filler I ever saw. Perhaps even the most beautiful Visconti as well. Particularly attractive are the matching cut-outs in the clip/crescent. The painted Visconti logo on their more ...er, common pens (no offense intended, as I personally own plenty of those pesky "more common" Viscontis) has always seemed kinda cheesy, so this feature adds immeasurable class to your pen. It scampers straight to the top of my wish list!

I just ordered one of the red pens from Brian. I also asked that the pen's broad nib be ground to a stub. I can't wait to get the pen and seeing the beautiful pictures of yours makes me even more anxious to get my hands on mine.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
