OK Jim... the week is over for me...

Because I am a nice guy (and out of money), I will not be bidding on anything this weekend on eBay. Well not unless I find some really really fantastic deal I can't do without....

So just to make Jim's weekend, here is what I have acquired this week.

Total cost before shipping was $76.13

Total cost after shipping was $98.13

Now I just have to wait for them all to arrive...

The Canadian 51 is supposed to be dark green according to the seller...

Hey Tom,

You sure the eBay you're visiting isn't located on a server, to which only you were granted access, in some parallel universe? ;)

I doubt it :D :D

I did miss a very nice 1948 Demi Parker 51 Vac with 14K GF cap today... so someone else definately has access to the server...

Sucker beat me by $3.00..... I knew I should have gone to a $40 snipe... :bonk: :bonk: I wanted this because it was made the year I was born

You never know, he might have had a $42 max bid.

Although it's always nice to make them PAY if one has to lose.

griz definitely has access to a diffferent 'bay than I do.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

Good job, Tom! Possibly you should write a book about how to do this.

Don't you guys just love the "hunt"?

I really like seeing what people from this forum find on the Bay. Sometime I would have liked to have seen it too, but in most cases it's just pure fun to see all these nice trophies...

By the way, are there any other good hunting grounds, beside eBay?

I'm glad other people have the Ebay addiction too. I'm with HyperCamper, I like seeing other people's bargain finds. That's the fun of the hunt, getting something for a great price, that's why I like garage sales. But that's another story.... :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
