Wahl Eversharp Skyline Demonstrator

Recommended Posts

I own a Skyline clear demonstrator with golden clip and M pen. I received is as a "thank you" gift from a pipe smoking pen shop keeper, whom I handed over my two Falcon pipes after I had quit smoking ;-)

I had never contemplated getting one before, but I am very pleased with it. It writes very smooth and looks beautiful. My only comment on it is that I wished it had been larger - I like my pens slightly thicker and it is quite slim. Nevertheless I'm very fond of this pen!

Could somebody date this pen and/or answer this question: "would it be possible to fit a vintage flex pen to this model without further modification?"?

I was hoping that someone who got more catalogs at the time would answer you. I think those are all from the nineties. I don't think they ever said Wahl. Whoever made them probably used only the Eversharp name.

I haven't held one of those, but I'd probably count it as medium thick, and reserve slim for slimmer than that. If you want fat, you should look into real Eversharp Skylines in the executive ( Executive ?) size. Then you should also look into ones with flexible nibs.

That doesn't look anything like a Skyline, other than the derby and generic body shape. Converter filler, unknown nib & feed... certainly not an original production Eversharp.

The moment we want to believe something, we suddenly see all the arguments for it, and become blind to the arguments against it.

Not much to add other than - a skyline demo sold on eBay; maybe a year ago. There was discussion here about it.

The pen is a "retro" pen made in the early 1990's when a French company licensed the name from Parker in order to make a run of these pens. They turn up on eaby from time to time. This "demonstrator" is of the retro pen configuration and those usually sell for about $150 today more as a "current" pen than a commemorative one from what I observe.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
