I didn't make any artistic efforts. This is written with a Binder .9mm oblique, PR Avacado. The quote is from "Music from Spain" by Eudora Welty. i included an image that is a close-up of some of the words - i dunno why but I liked it.

Hey, that is very nice. And what a beautiful writing you have. Love that ink. Here is mine for the day;

Oh My! I am truly humbled. Not only does my handwriting not even approach this level, but my daughter commented when I mentioned that a fountain pen would always be a thoughtful gift, "But dad -- your handwriting is awful! Why do you want a nice pen?"

She was (and is still correct). But she gave me a pen that I enjoy using and despite my poor efforts, I firmly believe that anything worth doing is also worth doing poorly, if that is all one can do.

On my long list of things to do is to make an honest effort to improve my handwriting.

George,

my handwriting is hideous under normal circumstances. I can, with some effort and a good italic pen, confuse people enough to think otherwise. But with a fine nib - yikes!

Still - I think it has improved drastically in the past few years. I dunno - probably should ask a couple of long-time snail friends to judge that one. And it varies of course - if I'm tired when I write or in a hurry it will be henscratch. If I'm medicated with my night meds they tend to relax me and my writing gets large and loopy and yet oddly more legible.

I have "Write Now" and have sworn I would work my way through it completely and with daily practice as I truly believe doing so would improve my hand. Until I really commit to that and make it happen, folks will have to be happy with what they get. :-)

Your daughter's comment is cute but what we get out of a nice pen isn't always in the ink on paper but the enjoyment of the process. FPs connect us to our thoughts in ways that other writing instruments do not. It isnt' always a better way - just a different one.

I still write as much with an FP as I do on a computer btb. :-)

always - KCat the Verbose :rolleyes:

There is something extremely elegant and powerful in that "the".

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
