Here this might help you!

Rules are Rules!

Hi Everyone

The Marketplace has become a very busy place nowadays. The huge rise in membership numbers has brought with it some changes in how these forums are being used, and that's particularly so in the 'For Sale' forum. I thought it might be helpful to clarify our current policy on some of the issues which have arisen as a result.

Firstly, if you haven't already done so, please take a moment to read the message from the Admin Team which appears at the top of the Classifieds & Market Watch main index page.

As agreed and approved by the Admins, in addition to the existing guidelines please note that:

1. The 'For Sale' forum is intended to be a place for ordinary members to sell their own pens and related items to other ordinary members.

Posts from online retailers and other professional sellers are for the present also allowed here, by dint of common practice. However, from now on such posts should indicate specific items offered for sale, and not be merely a pointer to a web site, or an advertisement for a general sale. Posts of the latter type will be moved to Market Watch, without notice.

2. You may also post 'give-aways' in For Sale, unless these are deemed to be for the purpose of sales promotion, in which case they should be made to Market Watch.

3. Posts which are pointers to eBay or other off-site auctions should be made to Market Watch. If found or reported elsewhere, they will be moved without notice.

4. We do not allow auctions in the Marketplace. There is too much potential for fall-out. As an exception, we do allow public auctions for the benefit of FPN funds, but we ask that you run these by the Admins first.

5. If you have a number of items that you'd like to sell, please try to regulate your sales posts so as to avoid flooding the forum. Consider listing them in batches (of a manageable size), where appropriate. In addition, please don't 'bump' your topic any more frequently than once every twenty-four hours.

6. Regarding negative comments or feedback on sales: this has long been an area fraught with difficulty. Our current policy on this is well covered in the final paragraph of the Section guidelines linked above. The bottom line is that we cannot allow them, and such posts will be removed without notice.

7. Please remember that 'For Sale' is not a discussion area. We request that members make sure their replies are directly related to the business of the transaction in hand. Please think before you post - is your reply helping the topic-starter with his/her transaction, or will it cause difficulty? Sidetracked or cluttered threads make it harder for other members to view any relevant replies, or to quickly check the status of a topic. Discussion also increases the potential for fall-out, or even the sabotage of a sale, and unfortunately there has been some history of this.

8. No form of lottery, game of chance or similar scheme shall be permitted on this site without the express prior permission of FPN Admin.

9. Rules is rules as sure as eggs is eggs.

Any of the Marketplace guidelines may be subject to amendment, change or addition where considered appropriate by the Moderator and/or the Admins.

Thank you all for your continued support, good luck with your transactions, and hey - let's be careful out there!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
