The con-20 does not form a good seal no matter how hard I push it in. It sits too loosely in the section. The con-50 worked fine though. I had it in the pen for two weeks and no leaks or problems--other than the pen's scratchy nib, which had nothing to do with the converter.

I have found that the CON-20 is quite variable in tightness. One will fit snug, the next far too loose. If you are getting a CON-20 - using pen, may be worth buying an extra CON-20 with it, or get a CON-50 or 70 depending on size of the pen.

Hey, GoldenGirl - I see you have been to Vulcan (Alberta)! Great pic.

Part of it is due to the variances in the diameter of the connector on individual Pilot pens. As a result, I usually unbox a new converter for each pen and I don't swap converters around different pens. Once one starts swapping converters around is when problems begin in my experience. My relatives are all using these pens with the Con-20 converter, and they haven't had any issues. We have the same problem with other pens as well that use the International cartridges. Once one uses a converter in one pen, it stretches the seal on the converter permanently and it doesn't fit in other pens.

Your review convinced me to order one. Not that it was a hard sell, since I prefer ergo grips, demonstrators, and eyedroppers! This is the only pen I've seen (so far) that has all three.Anyway, it's in the mail. Fingers crossed it isn't too scratchy...

I don't know how it went with you, i ordered two, one clear and a black one. Both are very, verye smooth. I bet someone is pressing too much on the paper with those so fine nibs! Only problems, blobs of ink from the clean pen when used as eyedropper.

I am in love with this nib... Nice review, and the quality of those writing sample scans is really high, excellent job.

As for this pen, I put the nib and feed in an Ivory Prera, and it writes wonderfully!

Eagerly awaiting mine to arrive and like others, hoping for a smooth writing experience.

How is everyone finding they are on the supplied cart, and what inks are working besides noodles eel series (difficult to get in the UK)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
