Good idea!!! Indeed! Makes postage easier too..........we use our own pens and inks and just send the journal!
Can we compile a list of who's who and where now?
I don't mind starting - should it be a small journal - keeps the cost down - we don't need to write screeds unless you want to do that...........let each person do their own thing - have time as the only limit.
What do you all think????
Each day is the start of the rest of your life!
Make it count!!!

Hi,

if it's not too late, I'd like to join too. I like the idea of seeing different inks, though the travelling pen is a catchy title and trying a pen you haven't tried before is a nice idea too

Perhaps the need to send the pen empty so no leaks in transit means that the book could keep moving without too much delay if it didn't have to wait for people to have time to empty and flush it?

Let me know what to do next,

M

Do we want to use actual journals (a la Moleskines style) or cahiers (more akin to exercise books)? The latter is easier to mail around but isn't as nice looking but the former tends to be bulkier and more expensive (both the journal itself and sending it)

I'll have to check with Aus Post and find out just how much difference there is in postage costs. I'm quite happy to go either way.

Excellent. Whatever you decide I think we need your leadership at this point. Choose your poison and start the process - we WILL follow thumbup.gif

I agree with this.

I don't think the postage will be too much different, not enough to break anyone. Pick whatever you think and go for it

Here I am! Sorry, still away on holiday with limited internet access. Let me know what you need, and I'll email/post it. I also have a Pilot 78G with stub nib to donate, for those who prefer something with a bit of line variation.

Regards,
Soki xx

Sorry - hadn't finished reading all the post when I replied with gusto! So, are we going with just the travelling journal?

Checked the postage rates and a normal notebook will be fine ^^. We'll just ship the journal around and everone can write in the journal with their own pens =). Feiye should probably start since she's donating some rhodia to our cause (and because she's jetting off to warmer climates for a few weeks). Let the fun begin.

I agree that using our own pens is easier. I've participated in another travelling journal, one that went around the globe and hence postage was definitely an issue, and everyone was quite happy to use their own pens/inks. Besides, it was interesting to see what everyone has stashed away. biggrin.gif

I'd certainly give this a whirl.

The idea of trying another pen is tempting, but I think the travelling journal is simpler. And seeing others' hand, ink, thoughts, impressions is meat enough for my mind.

I'm on the assumption that feiye is filling some pages of the journal while she's over in Vanuatu. She should be back in a week and a bit and we'll go from there.

I hope it doesn't soak up too much sunshine in Vanuatu. We've got an oversupply of that here. Send me rain...lots of rain. biggrin.gif

Please send some sunshine south of the border! It's been cold and miserable in Sydney lately.
