Did you say diplomat? I should be an honour member!

B)

Mmmm.... what about a "real" Diplomat?

A Diplomat from the 60s, a copy of the first Pelikano actually. Interesting pen. Not a masterpiece, though...

WOW! Look at all you guys! Have to run for now but I thought I'd congratulate all the new members. I'll be on later to post an updated list of members. Also don't forget to leave any sticker, t shirt, or other ideas.

In for a penny, in for a pound. I have one Diplomat that I bought from a friend about 10 or 12 years ago. I remember when I was an undergraduate using the old style Koohinor technical pen because it resembled an MB 149 and I could afford it. Trouble is that I dropped the pen (Alas) and the nib is very slightly bent. Just enough to make it scratchy. At the same time (double misfortune) I cracked a chunk out of the cap. It is from the bottom of the cap to the gold band, and about as wide. Anyone know where I can get a replacement cap. Wanted for aesthetic reasons, not functional ones. I hope soon to get my medium nib reground into a medium/fine cursive italic, so that should take care of the nib distortion and fit my handwriting better. Very happy to among the first (whatever the number is so far) members.

Assign the next number in the rota to me. Unlike some, I am not into numerology. :bunny01:

PS: Since I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, I find the nice fat barrel of the 149 easy on the hand. (This message has not be approved by the FDA. They probably don't care anyway!)

There will be no crisis this week. My calendar is already full.

Can I be #000??

Always thought that to be weird on the back of a sports jersey, that someone would have the #0 or #00....

So since I'm kinda weird.. :ltcapd:

She'll give it back.

No, not quite. I gave the 149 YesWeCan to my son either two year's early for a college graduation gift or two year's late for a high school graduation gift. Doesn't matter; he deserves it either way.

i saw this thread this morning and said to myself, "Self, you have a couple of days to wait before number 149 comes around so you can snipe it."

Aargh...back to the drawing board.

My favorite numbers are already gone so I'll be whatever's next [lost count/track]. B nib here. I think that makes me 010?

To hell with assigning numbers to oneselves. The real issue is, does the club have a decent golf course?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
