KATIEKOKO ~ Good Seller!

I've had good experiences with one of the newer, smaller pen suppliers on Ebay. Kate Nicholson, who sells under Ebay ID KATIEKOKO , offers vintage and nos pens.

I ordered a NOS gold nibbed Platinum pen from KATIEKOKO and happened to mention in the note section of the order that the pen was for my daughter's birthday. Two days later, I got an email from KATIEKOKO. KATIEKOKO, who turned out to be Ms. Nicholson, noticed in packing the pen that the pen I'd purchased had a hairline crack in the cap. In her email she offered to professionally repair the original pen, or to cancel the order, or to send an replacement pen. To give me time to decide and since the delay in shipping was due to a defect in the pen, she offered to airmail either the original pen repaired or the replacement pen, at her cost, so it would arrive in time for the birthday.

I opted for the replacement pen. It turned out to be a larger, nicer pen than I'd first ordered, with all the shipping cost compliments of KATIEKOKO along with apologies that the original pen was faulty.

Kate hadn't seen the hairline crack when she'd examined it before posting the ad. A lot of other sellers would have just mailed the pen and hoped that I also didn't notice the slight crack. Or, they'd have glued and polished the pen before sending it and just not told me. (Kate said that if I opted to keep the original pen, the repair she could do on the pen would not be visible.) Instead she gave me the option of how the problem should be resolved.

I'll be keeping an eye on KATIEKOKO's Ebay postings and looking for deals, confident that the descriptions will be accurate and there will be outstanding customer service should any problems arise. Knowing that the seller is responsive and honest takes all the uncertainly and stress out of buying a nos or used pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
