Shipping pens from the US to overseas

I was wondering if regular pen sellers in the US can help me with this: What shipping service, the ones that include a tracking number, do you use for shipping pens overseas?

USPS told me the only service available was Express Mail, which cost about $28 at least. But I don't suppose this is what you normally pay, since many sellers here ask for only about $15 for overseas shipping charge.

Any advice will be appreciated. Many many thanks, and Happy Memorial Day to you all.

If you want to have the ability to track your package the only service on USPS you can use is EMS or First Class Registered mail... I prefer EMS...

Those who are offering $15.00 overseas shipping are not getting tracking service....

Unfortunately, USPS Priority Mail does not offer tracking overseas...

The only other services that offer overseas tracking are USP and FedEx...

Doing a search on FedEx for 1 package, 1.0 lbs, Your Packaging, 10 in x 8 in x 1 in, 100.00 USD. value to England shows a $64.00 shipping charge.

Using UPS website the charges are about the same depending on which service is used...

All in all if you must have tracking information your best bet is USPS for overseas shipments...

I use USPS First Class International Mail with private insurance though Shipsurance (formerly DSI).

My insurance allows me to ship items up to $500 value outside the US and there is no need for tracking unless I want to ship an item over $500. In that case, I usually opt for Express Mail International.

I know PayPal requires tracking for their Seller Protection policy, but my insurance will cover me in the event of a PayPal chargeback for damage or non-delivery.

Most countries we commonly ship pens to are covered. My policy does not allow me to ship to the following countries (info copied directly from my policy):

Abkhazia, Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola (including Cabinda), Bangladesh, Barbados, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burma, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Chechnia, Congo, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea - Bissau, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, truck/rail shipments to and within Mexico other than as a connecting conveyance, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Papua/New Guinea, Paraguay, Qatar, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Venezuela, and Yemen,.

Any location that would be in violation of any U.S. economic or trade sanctions including OFAC Restricted Countries. For shipments to Russian and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries (includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan) coverage ceases upon touchdown of the aircraft at the airport of destination or upon discharge from the overseas vessel at the destination discharge port.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
