Pelikan M1000

Hi Pelikan-people,

I've just bought a new M1000 from e-Bay at about $ 230,--! :D

I'll be looking around this forum now, too...

Best regards!

Congrats on your M-1000!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this pen a lot, so much, that I have 3!!!! 2 are all black, with a med and one fine nib, and a green striped one in the green striped body. I like its somewhat flexy nib.

Yes... I must admit that I was surprised at the lack of European interest. It's only been filled once and the owner came to the same conclusion as you, K-Cat.

Starting price was about $ 200,00, but in the end there was only one competitor...

Can't wait to get in the mail! ;)

  • 1 month later...

Nice catch :) in light of today's prices, Johan.

If you don't do anything but use it as a signature pen it is well worth having. It belongs in every Pelikan fancier's accumulation/collection, since it is the "big dog" of the Pel line.

Mine is now with Chris Burton. When Chris gets his new kitchen finished in his new home, and returns to his binde backlog, it will eventually fly back to this desert in her new clothes. She'll be Crimson Glow  from head to toe!

That's a M-nib... I think it's a bit too broad to suit my handwriting. Maybe I'll post it for trading of have it Binderized...

I find the M1000 a frustrating pen. The M nib is too broad, but I found the F nib quite scratchy. I suppose a MF nib would be ideal, if there was one.

Then again, I'm not a Pelikan fan, so........

I have a Pel fine nib (modified for flex) and it is absolutely glass-smooth, so those who are avoiding a F because it's scratchy, it ain't necessarily so.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

Slightly off topic:Hmm, some people frown upon the use of snipers on Ebay but it's saved me a lot of money on auctions.

I use BidNip.com. What the service does is it enters your bid at the last moments before an auction closes so that other parties do not have time to outbid you.

Using this service, you may enter your highest bid for all the M1000 you fancy on Ebay (individually) and have your bids go in at the last seconds, hence the name bid sniping. I paid $165 for my M800 this way. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
