Sometimes you just GOTTA laugh!-

Now to preface this, I certainly don't consider myself THAT knowlegable though I HAVE mananged to pick

up quite a bit of info here in the past year and I'd like to think I have been blessed with a decent amount of

common sense.

I am looking at a particular FP and PENCIL set on Fleabay. I know it beyond a shadow of a doubt to be a

pencil. Regardless, the seller has it listed as a FP and **BP** (my abbreviations) set.

I calmly and cooly messaged him and asked if he didn't mean FP and PENCIL set. To pull the cap off the "BP"

and see if it didn't have an eraser under it. (Certainly, one would think that would be a sure clue right?)<I even

further mentioned that while this pen company DID make BP's at a time and point, I was virtually certain that

they NEVER offered a BP in a 2 piece set with this certain FP.>

Well.

One might THINK that that was clue enough...

The seller messages back that by jove, yes, there IS an eraser under the cap. (Imagine my total unshockednicitiness...)

but that...

OK now. Maybe you should sit down for this...

There was a circular sleeve just under that ERASER that was just the size for a BALL POINT REFILL to be inserted into.

:gaah:

:bonk:

TOO funny!

I'm shaking my head. Be kind, write back and explain how to operate a mechanical pencil. I don't know it's possible to make it to adulthood without knowing that, but we now know that it can be done.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

Just tell him to NOT try to fit a refill there

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

In the words of that great philosopher Ron White, "You can't fix stupid."

I'd love to have the patience and calmness that doing what Wendy suggested would take but, sorry,

I just don't. I tried to turn the leming from the sea but if he insists, I'll just let 'em swim. (I also didn't

get the impression they were on their way out to find a refill to cram in there either...)

I DID get a good chuckle out of it tho.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
