I've got everything crossed now hoping that my pen can be done with a lever.

I am checking to see if the LF is included within the sales price as I was under the impression the filling mechanism was c/c only. I will also be speaking with the UK in the morning as I too feel that it would be great if we can include this filling option.

As from May 1st, the bespoke price increased and this information was circulated to all retailers through several emails. Below are the *new* bespoke charges.

Model 58 GBP 595 / $1,030

Dandy GBP 630 / $1,055

Dinkie GBP 575 / $980

Duro GBP 680 / $1,155

The Spring Sales Event offers great savings however some materials finishes and special nib grade options are running low so please order early to avoid disappointment.

Kind regards,

Mary Burke

It's only the Bespoke Service that has seen a dramatic increase. Read my posts above for the reasoning and this quote from Mary Burke:

...

Martin

Martin,

don't care what the excuses are for the price increase just interested in the price to see if I'm still in the market for a pen.

And I see that Mary actually answered my question, thanks mary!

Those prices are MSRP; see my post above for what Richard Binder, an CS AD, has them listed for, which is 65%-75%, roughly of MSRP depending on the model.

I stand corrected. Thank you as well for giving me the information I asked about!

The only way I would consider buying a CS at the post May 1st prices would be if it was made out of some really nice Mazzucchelli cellulose nitrate, such as the marbled green used in the Nettuno Superba or one of the arcos used by Omas.

At these prices CS should look outside their acrylic repertoire. Casein was a nice start.

How about a cracked ice 58 made out of the Mazzucchelli/Omas wild celluloid?

Heck, I'd love a modern CS pen out of ANY nice celluloid.

Yes, I might. I'll buy it as a graduation present to myself. After these purchases I will try not to buy another pen for the next six months. Unless I get a job worth celebrating. I'm enrolled to do research - not for academic purposes - for a company that needs an overview of the law within its field, during the summer, but that doesn't count. I must really go back to work on my essay. No exam, no money, no pens. Simple as that.

Brilliant, have you gone for another Dandy?

Wow, Mary. You keep pulling hat tricks like this off and we might start having to give offerings. :)

Mary,

Could you please explain what will happen once the sale is over in terms of the colour options? Will all the colours that are currently on sale be discontinued, and are there new colours being offered instead?

I guess the next question would be what are the standard prices for those 4 pens or are they only available as special order???

Mary, I just want to thank you for extending the bespoke spring sale and making lever-fillers available as part of that special offer. I am ordering two lever-filling Dandies (my first Conway Stewarts!) at a fantastic price--I otherwise would not be able to afford these pens. So thanks again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
