Praise to TWD for their excellent service

I'd just like to praise the UK based The Writing Desk for their excellent and kind service. They have an extraordinary offer for bespoke Conway Stewarts right now (very convenient for us EU members) and has been most helpful and patient while I've tried to decide which pen in which colour. I have changed my mind a couple of times and I am very very grateful for their patience. I've bought other things from them before, but nothing so trying as this purchase and they have been very kind all along.

No affiliations - just a very happy customer.

Plus 1 !! Excellent service.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I have bought Diamine inks from them a few times!

Very happy! Fast service- items get to NJ in about a week.

I've praised them before in another thread. Bought a couple of pens from them and had an excellent service. Met them at the London Pen Show once. Nice people trying very hard to get a business going selling FPs.

They are super to deal with. Nothing is too much trouble. As I have written on their guestbook, I'm a customer for life.

Ah, that fresh ink on paper look!

I just received an order from TWD yesterday. When I placed the order, they did not have all of the items in stock--but they notified me immediately and told me that they would get them in as quickly as possible. Less than a week later I received an e-mail letting me know that the order had been shipped. I received the package in the U.S. within five business days. I am very pleased--it arrived faster than I expected and communication was excellent. I will be ordering from them again for sure.

  • 2 weeks later...

i'd also like to recommend these folks.

Bought a bottle of Poussiere de Lune and a bottle of K&R Smaragdgrun [did i spell that right?] for what seems to be really good prices ($5.60Usd & $5.12Usd?) [everyone else was out-of-stock on the J. Herbin, i'll add], with decently-cheap shipping (UK to Canada always seems to be quite inexpensive [9 bucks for the two bottles]....) ... and it arrived (excluding the weekend) 4 days later in a box that was just big enough that the post-office made me come pick it up. (No worries 'bout somebody stealing the package! Tho: it did kinda' look like an action-movie/cartoon BOMB-package ... which made me feel a bit odd carrying it around. Probably i'm just a little weird.)

Anyway ... i haven't had much experience with "business" transactions (mostly private sales), but i really couldn't be happier, and it makes me feel like buying a buncha' more junk from them just because it WAS so painless.

As said: Can't really compare to other places, but i don't see anything that could be improved here (maybe the addition of Paypal--but no biggy) and will be ordering again from them in the near-near future.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
