I was an exchange student in Banksia Park in '86. I'm too far to make the trip now. :(

Yep..I'm out Modbury way. Been searching for a pen club in Adelaide but haven't found one yet.

(You'd think in a city of 1.2M there would be a pen club??)

If any one has any info I'd be interested.

I know I'm a little late to this party but I'm a new member from the Hillcrest area. Looking forward to meeting some other locals.

I would be too! The FB page were talking about how they used to meet on the first weekend of every month- not possible for me as I work weekends, but hopefully we can find a day/time that suits all :)

I'm also on the FB page, although haven't been to one of the meetings yet. Hopefully if the timing suits I'll try and attend the next one when they organise it.

Glad to see an upsurge in Adelaide pen people! I'm from the UK but moving out to Adelaide in August.

I'm part of the London UK pen club and we meet every first Saturday of the month, and we usually meet up at the same pub/restaurant. We also have a Reddit and a thread like this in case there are any changes and it seems to have served the group well for quite some time! Just a few ideas.

Also I think the Pelikan Hub will be a great opportunity for an initial meet up!

Hi there! Don't recognise your User Name on here, but my partner & I go to the London Bierschenke meetings every month when we're in the UK, so you & I have probably met IRL :).

Currently enjoying our yearly 6-month stint here in Aus, on south coast of Victoria. You'll love Adelaide - we were there again a few weeks ago and it's our favourite Australian city. It's beautiful. I hope you love Australia as much as I do.

Hi All,

Just letting you know that there is the Adelaide Pelikan Hub next Friday night in the CBD. I was invited without owning a Pelikan, and I think we would all prefer a bigger turnout rather than being snobbish about Pelikan ownership!

Let me know if you're interested in coming and I'll get the details for you, or invite you to the Facebook event!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
