In your opinion, what is the most "attractive looking" Pelikan?

Modern: I would like to have a red stripe 800 with a vermeil cap, but I'll settle with second best, my blue stripe with black cap.
gold or rhodium-plated trim?

Gold

I've wanted an M800 Demo w/ markings for some time, just way beyond my financial capabilities to buy one.

The Polar Lights is intriguing, never seen one in person & alas it's also too expensive for me.

The Kirin posted previously is the first time I've seen one, a beautiful Pelikan pen!

I really like the deep blue matching cap/body of the M605 2004 Special Edition, along with the silver [chrome] trim, both elegant and clean.

Like the Pelikan M620 Madrid 2002 Special Edition, the M605 looks about the proper size for me and a pen I would carry daily.

It's not too flashy, not too drab, to me the perfect combination of "attractive looking" and utilitarianism, matching dress from my blue-jean lazy days to 3-piece suits.

I would love to get one that came with the limited matching blue ceramic pelican pen rest.

*NOTE: not my picture; found on Amazon & posted by Marketfair Stationery...

Pharo would be the first, although, unfortunately, just when it's capped. It doesn't look so good uncapped... Epoch 361 would be my second choice.

I'm going to go with the P390. It catches the eye with it's sheer gold and silver shininess but still retains a sort of understated elegance.

While waiting for my M640 Sahara to arrive I have been going through the "green book," Pelikan Schreibgerate, which has almost all Pelikans depicted in color. I might end up putting the Sahara at the top of the list, but there are strong alternatives: Lizard and Tortoise with short cap top (1937-1951) pg. 57, almost any Toledo, the 1000 Years of Austria (1996) pg 108., Model 101, 1936-38 Lapis pg.44, and the special edition Stockholm pg. 114. Tomorrow my list might shift a little, and that is a testiment to Pelikan.

I remember the blue ocean very well! I remember when I had the chance to buy a FP & BP set when it first came out. I hesitated and now I will probably regret if forever! :crybaby:

Other than my all black old style silver trim 200 - the 215 "rings" version would be my pick. I like simple and silver and black is classy!

Hi,

as a fan of the Pelikan 100, I like the "remakes" like the LE 1935 in

lapis and jade. A vintage Toledo or sterling overlay 100 :notworthy1: oh boy...

Best,

Anna

My M640 Sahara arrived and it is quite dramatic in person, with a three-dimensional barrel that really shimmers under bright light. So I'll keep it, let's say, in my top three on the Pelikan list. Several folks mentioned the M620 Cities series, e.g., Berlin, Chicago, Stockholm, or the Grand Place in Brussels. Let me add another from the series--the Piccadilly. Having spent many happy hours in the heart of London's Piccadilly Circus, I find that the pen well captures some of the manic swirling energy of the square where people go to eat, wait for their theatre curtain time, gawk, get mildly drunk, and mill about looking for their slice of mildly toxic excitement.

In any case, reading each of these postings has expanded my Newbie horizons. :clap1:

Both Northern Lights and Sahara are stunning and commanding. The great theologian and philosopher Paul Tillich would say that they each have a "power of being" that infuses itself into the owner/caretaker.

Can you give me your assessment of the Cherry Blossom? I was thinking about buying one with a fp nib.

thanks

Glad to see someone else is a fan of the Picadilly Circus model -- one of the more unusual and in my opinion beautiful Pelikans out there.

I also may be alone in this, but I also like the black and gold Ductus.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
