Sounds like more than a fair deal, but unfortunately I lack the requisite pen and just reached my Weight Watchers goal weight today!

I'm Andy H and I approved this message.

Still looking, in case anyone spots a 302 at a flea market today.

Thanks!

There is a photo of the Sheaffer cartridge pens I like in this post. These two pens show 304 (Fine) and 305 (Med) nibs. The wished-for 302 is an Extra-Fine!

Gran,

Are you sure these things even exist? I've been searching and all I come across are the 304 and 305...strangely enough I saw two of the same number (can't recall which) that looked like very different nib sizes! :bonk: I'll have to hunt that down tonight and show you...

I also have a Sheaffer Fineline I'm going to check out when I put the kids to bed tonight...I'll let you know what I find! But I don't want any cookies, my little boy is on a special diet and I know I weigh more than AndyH right now!! I still feel I owe you for this ink situation! :headsmack:

v/r,

Stacey

Forget the picture. I want a tasting sample. :)

That's a heck of an offer, Gran! Really makes me wish that I hadn't passed up the half-dozen of them I saw yesterday. Those of you in central Illinois near I-80, I know that there are a handful of them at the Peru Antique Mall. I was there yesterday!

You all are dear. I don't have a camera to post photos. I stopped somewhere between Brownie cameras and 35 mm...but, am working on that.

This is one of the places I've read about the 302 nib: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...st&p=153259

I have a couple of the later versions, marked XF, they are not at all the quality of the earlier, numbered nibs. I already have two of the 304 nibs. They are nice, but I do so like extra-fine nibs.

I had no idea these plain, little nibs were so hard to find. Guess everyone is keeping what they've got.

Thanks much for trying.

:) Okay, I'd trade chocolate brownies for this little pen, too! They're trickier to mail because they crumble. Edited by Gran

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
