Endlessly looking for best writing experience...

I'd like to say HELLO to FPN at last :D

I'm into fountain pens from my earliest years. Can't remember what was my first FP... Maybe burgundy Hero FP (a Parker 51 knock off)? My father gave it to me - I've been using it in school for years and it was great, reliable writer. That's how my addiction started ;)

I have small but growing collection of fountain pens. However I'm an USER not COLLECTOR - every pen is inked now or then.

I am (as some of you know it) from Poland.

PS. English in not my native language. Feel free to correct my spelling/grammar...

Hi Alex,

Hero is a Parker 51 knock off alright - but still a very sweet pen. I really like mine.

What others have you ?

BTW - Your English is a hell of a lot better than my Polish :D

Hi :)

Here they are:

Parker Sonnet in "hunter green" - usually filled with Parker Quink Blue

Duke Silvershell (aka Chieftain) - it told me to feed him with WM Havana Brown ;)

Waterman Hemisphere (blue) - filled with WM Florida Blue

Lamy 81 (I am preparing review of this pen) - always ready to write with WM Florida Blue

Lamy Al-Star (silver) - with Pelikan Blue-Black

Rotring 600 (silver) - with Pelikan Brilliant Black

Rotring Esprit (gunmetal finish) - with Pelikan Brilliant Blue

Hero Polished Platinum (which somehow reminds me a Sonnet) - with WM Blue-Black

Pilot Calligraphic FP (broad nib) - now filled with Russian, red ink

Except for the last one all my pens have fine nibs.

Nice to see a fellow Lamy user.

so far, in your hunt for the best writing experience, which of those pens is leading the pack?  Mush! Mush!!!

Oh, man... It impossible to choose JUST ONE :D There's one group which is leading a little bit: my Lamys, Parker and Duke.. But the rest of the pack is very close to them ;)

Ah, the quest for the perfect writing instrument. Fortunately, it doesn't exist. If it did, then we'd all be stuck with just one pen! One of the things I like so much about the FP hobby is that you can appreciate the wonderful nuances of so many different pens. None are perfect, yet many are very, very good.

Anyhow, welcome to FPN and hope to see you around!

It would be horrible! I just can't imagine that I don't have 3-4 pens around, filled with some nice inks, ready to write whatever I like. It is so good to have a choice... :)

Anyhow, welcome to FPN and hope to see you around!

Thanks ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
