Danitrio Fellowship Membership Post

Ok, I got a energetic response to the Danitrio Fellowship so if you own a Danitrio pen of any kind and think an appreciation group would be fun (meetings to compare pens, trips to see Winedoc, starting point for plans for a trip to Japan, just to let Kevin know how many nuts he has to deal with) then post once in this topic.

For Example, I am going to organize a meeting for this summer in Santa Barbara between the Central and Southern California Chapters. Kevin has said we would come. This way the Central contingent can't keep him all to theirselves!

The same applies here for me as well Kimy. Not likely I would make one either, but you never know.

OK, the big announcement...

I have been exchanging emails with Danitrio regarding the enthusiastic Danitrio pen owners here and he is genuinely touched by all of your enthusiasm and it seems a sort of fan club is forming here. I read some of you have suggested a fan club pen for the fellowship members. He has agreed to make such pen for fellowship members as long as we can come up with a design or theme. We will try to make this pen simple to make it as affordable as possible. A new pen shape body will be used for this pen, it will be a shorter clipless octagon cc filler, which can be converted to a western ED filler if one desires so. The pen will only be sold to Fellowship members and part of the proceed can be used to set up an account, maybe for future club functions?? Anyways, just ideas for us to talk about. Let me know what you all think.

Best,

Kevin

Excitement! I shall start saving. I would prefer if it didn't have letters on it like "FPN" or "DF" or anything. I don't know what it should have, but I will start thinking.

Oooooh! Clipless and Octagon are two of my favourite words these days! Thank you Kevin!

Wow, Kevin! Danitrio has one fantastic "Boss" to do such a thing for us. All because we appreciate such lovely and fine art.

As for what design should be on the pen, well, you'll get 100 ideas for ever post on FPN! The shorter clipless octagon is exciting! Maybe a new urushi? A symbol, should there be one, could be small on the bottom of the barrel or on the cap. Maybe a small bird or blossom of many colors... so diverse are we. Heh, I'd even go for a tiny multi-mottled-color frog... to sate the Franks amongst us as well. But really, with the new pen size, I'd be very, very happy with a beautiful Tame-midori or Tame-nuri, and maybe just my name in kanji (sp) tucked quietly away somewhere on the pen.

However, since the pen is unique just for a huge group of admirers, I would like to suggest we let the artist take the reins and experiment for something simple yet elegant. But no matter what everyone comes up with in the end, make sure the artist signs their work.

Please, put me on the top of the list to purchase this pen. I'll scrape and save to have one.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
