Hello everbodies-
I am putting together an illustrated talk for a club I'm in and I have come upon the task of describing my fountain pens. I have one pen, a Morrison's ring top overlay (as identified by you guys).
Can any of you give me some links, or at least some solid info?
Thanks!!

Inchworm:

If you look on page 1 of the Pen History forum here, there is a thread on Morton Pens. Morton was a sub brand of Morrison I believe, and the pen you show fits into that time period. That thread contains a bit of Morrison history.

There are those that know a whole lot more than I do about Morrison, but what I do know is that they made many "second tier" pens in the 20s, 30s and 40s at least and were located in New York City. Sub brands often associated are Morton, Marathon, Arrow, Roxy and Nassau. The "M" on the clip within a wreath are common for all of these brands.

Hopefully, someone with more concrete knowledge (patent info etc) will chime in for you.

Good luck with your talk.

Please post what you find out, Inchworm. I have what looks like exactly the same pen. Mine came down to me from my mother's side of the family.

thanks,

Will do- I haven't found much, but this is what one of the members told me in another thread-
2. Morrison ring-top overlay. Morrison was a 2nd tier pen company in the 1920-1940s? They made some excellent gold and silver overlay pens. This looks like a hard-rubber pen with a silver overlay. If it is a solid sterling overlay, then wow! Antonios, who posts here a lot, has some great Morrisons and can tell you a lot more about them. They aren't worth as much as a Waterman overlay, but they are great pens.

I dont know much about Morrison. I do know a little about a subrand of Morrison (Morton) but there is much more to Morrison than that (like the Morrison Tourist, the Morrison Patriot etc. and the overlays.) One way to search for this company is to go to www.richardspens.com and do a search for Morrison. Several nice photos and comments on Morrison will come up.

Cool! Thanks smile.gif
I think I'll have to get mine out and play around with it some. Because it is kind of small for my big hands, I narmally just keep it as something pretty to look at.
