I was talking to Fountain Pen Hospital yesterday and they were telling me about a great deal they have on Krone Moderne pens....I'm not real familiar with Krone and can't find alot of info on the internet or this site about them..
Any input would be appreciated...
Mike
Krone is known in the FP world for its incredibly gaudy, over the top limited editions. Just based on that, I and likely many others would never buy a Krone.
Plus, looking at the Krone site, the Moderne looks rather uncomforable and ugly to me. I'd go with a Pelikan.

My experience with Krone pens is that they are very smooth writers. Several of the Metaphors I had skipped on the downstroke, as did the one other one I had.
I don't know why that was. Perhaps because the nibs are so smooth they sometimes suffer from the babybottom syndrome. The ones I had were also fairly heavy in regard to flow.
I suspect the Moderne would be a very smooth writer.
Get a fix on dimensions of the pen. It seems that Krone often makes pens in unique sizes.
If the deal is great and the size appeals to you, you will probably enjoy the pen.
Also, where are you located? You might want to see where the nearest service business is in case you have a flow issue or skipping problem.
Again, all my comments are based on the four pens I have had. The last one was the one I sent to Richard binder, who fixed the skip and adjusted the flow and then the pen was wonderful....just too darn short to write with without posting the cap.
