So I am looking at the M600 in black, on Pelikan's official site, it looks very nice with a green ring near the grip.

But on most vender sites I see it as a completely black pen.
Is that just because there's no ink in the picture at pelikan's site. And it looks completely black when filled with ink?

The green band is the ink view window. I would imagine the color of the section may vary depending on what color ink is in the pen.

yup - or poor lighting.

the color won't vary much however unless it's a really thin (low dye amount) ink. Most of the time it will just look black when full.
