Hello:
I recently obtained a used Pelikan M425 green and silver FP, and was wondering if the clip, and the ring that attaches the clip to the cap should also be made of silver? I notice the cap is stamped "ag925" but the underside of the silver-colored clip is stamped 'metal' and the ring has no stamp.

Are the rings and clip also supposed to be made of silver when purchased factory fresh?

thanks for you help!

Jack,
I don't have a 425, but I have a new M625 and it is the same way - the underside of the clip is stamped "metal". So I think you can rest easy.

"Metzl" is what the makers use when they are unable, usually for legal reasons, to use something like "ag925" or "sterling." My guess is that it is not sterling. It's probably rhodium-plated brass or steel. Which actually makes sense, as sterling that thin would have, like, umm, zero spring.
