I've discovered recently that I'm not getting optimal performance out of my FP's. I'm a left-handed crook shank writer. I really like my handwriting and this is the way I've developed my writing style since childhood. I was very artistic as a child and never realized a deficiency till now.

Recently I was experimenting with more traditional pen holding positions and and have discovered in most if not all my pens, the ink flows to the paper much, much better in this position.

Downside? My handwriting looks like a 4 year old. I would love to re-develop my pen holding position but can't endure the look of 4 YO handwriting in the process.

I guess I'm just going to live with the knowledge of not getting the most of my pens.

Boo.

. . . or you can retrain yourself to write properly. James Pickering has a lot of great info on his sight and has posted much of it at various places on FPN. I highly recommend his site. Also some good books out there. Write Now by Getty and Dubay is good. But there is a book targeted right at us lefties, and that's Left-Handed Calligraphy by Vance Studley. I'm slowly beginning the process - have already converted to an underwriter, which helped a lot. Patience and practice are the keys.

I'm having the same problems. I try to write underhanded, but usually get too frustrated, and go right back. I have noticed the impovement in flow though...
