i like the new vw gti commercials with peter stormare copping a fake german accent - "v-dub in da house, representin' deustchland." "v-dub, holdin' it down on da engineering front, ya'll." "what time is it? time to un-pimp das auto." "oh snap! german engineering in da house, ja." funny. these pens remind me of that.
old style rotring 600 with steel oblique medium nib. i think this has been out of production for a while. typical bauhaus.
rotring 900, no longer made. steel extra fine nib. whimsical bow-house style, perhaps?

I have the newer Rotring 600. It doesn't have the checkered grip.
I think the older ones are better. The checkered grip could really help the ergonomics. For me, the pen is little small and heavy. But it's probably the most durable fountain pen that I have.
By the way, how old is your pen? I don't know if it has to do with build quality. My pens start showing brassing at the joint cap joint section only after a couple of months of use.
Good review.

Hi,
I believe that the ribbed pen is the 800. (Unless you know better than I do.)
I like it, but it is heavy.
