I like the Herbin Eclat de Saphir and Waterman Florida Blue. I went to the Writing Desk website and Private Reserve Lake Placid looks like a nice royal blue. I found Diamine Prussian Blue to be dark with my Bexley, coming out like a greyish blue. Noodlers Gulfstream looked more Purple. I do not want something as turquoise as Waterman South Seas Blue, and I do not want a greenish blue. Other than Lake Placid, any suggestions?

Roy: The first link had an example of DC Super and I LOVED that one. I gotta go compare them at the writing desk.

I really like Diamine Royal Blue, although I seem to have developed a fetish for blue inks...I have...a few.

haven't tried Royal Blue yet.
DC Blue is gorgeous and IMO, very nearly a true blue. Not too green, not too purple.

I haven't tried Lake Placid. (But would love to see photo.)
I would recomend DC Supershow. Compared to American Blue both are deep blue saturated inks. American Blue has hint of violet tones inside. DC has hint of lighter blue inside. Kind of mix between dark blue and true blue. (Sound confusing  ).
Why don't you call The Writing Desk and ask them? Martin told me that Diamin Sapphire and similar to Herbin Sapphire, but more saturated.
Diamine Royal Blue is lovely light blue colour. It is not turquise. It is not green. It is just lovely colour.
Noodler Blue (not Ottoma Azure) is little darker than Diamine Royal Blue, but smears under my hands.

Can't recommend Diamine Royal Blue enough. It's my default blue - in fact, my default ink. Here's an idea of its summery colour - from a pic I took a while ago to show off the pen!

PS Kat - you should have taken me up on the offer of a vial-full when I sent you the Diamine Umber!

I keep both American Blue and DC SS Blue.
My only wish is that DC would not smear as much, and that both be permanent!

I have had inks smear at times, but that is due to the fact that the ink was probably not fully dry. Is this what you mean when you say smear? Or do you mean that you can rub it still minutes later and it will smear the ink? Most of my writing is signing checks and letters, notes to files and notations on calendars.

I
love the Diamine royal blue/Yard-o-led blue too. Maybe we should start a separate forum for this ink? Only half kidding.

I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison with Noodlers Boston brahmin ink. It looks like they might be fairly close.

It seems, that Diamine Tropical Blue LE was the lighter version of Diamine Royal Blue.

Yep. I have two bottles of the 2004 tropical blue, and it looks like a lighter version of Yard-o-led blue.
