Full Version: PIC. World's largest (?) Pen Cabinet????
The Fountain Pen Network > Creative Expressions > Pictures & Pen Photography

Not sure if this should be in the PICTURES section. I've never been clear on some of the borders amongst these categories.

For months i've been promising to clean my apartment so i can shoot my pen case. Finally did it. I'm also posting intermittently as my wireless connection is acting up at home. Happily, i can wander my building and tap about 50 other networks.

This case is vintage... probably antique. It is a Hamilton's Printer's Cabinet, designed to hold font type. Dates, i guess, to 1880's-1920's or so. I don't insist. I yanked the dividers that held the thousands of pieces and lined it with Gary liners. Indeed, the neat modern case Bernie once showed here seems so similar to the Hamilton cases, one can but wonder if his cabinet maker had seen the things before.

These tend to be dirty, and if one wants a clean one hunting one of the Hamilton's library map cases (no ink in those) is a usually modestly more expensive option.

Anyway, this case is BIG How BIG is it? Well, look below Mite need to scroll.

More pics tomorrow.

Did pen collecting cause "crimson glow" on his eyes?

These pictures are great. I can show them to my wife and say "See - at least I'm not this bad" to which she replies "not yet".

That is a wonderful pen cabinet. The photo is funny too. Did the cabinet come with its own GPS (global positioning system) ? rolleyes.gif

So I guess this answers the questions I always had about Hobbits and what they write with! roflmho.gif

There is a funnier photo on Pentrace, of David holding a giant green Wahl Eversharp Decoband pen. laugh.gif

What can I say?- the word t****r comes to mind- but hang about, you are serious about this. It remind me of the buddhist teaching about the hungry ghost who is so greedy that he chokes on excesses and believes more is better

You need to get out more

What is he gonna do with all the pens?
U just need a descent pen that would last forever.
I would call that an extravegance.
Anyways, like the others said, that pic looks photoshoped.
MEH.

Hi guys.

And here i thought this was an *old* thread wink.gif

For those who were wondering... no kidding the picture is photoshopped! I didn't think that was ever in doubt :-)

Still, i love the pen case. And... no it is not full... yet.

Whether or not the pen is mightier than the sword is still debatable. But they're about the same size, anyway.

Oh you are so naiive smile.gif

We all start off like that thinking one pen is enough....but in about 98% of cases, that is not the case.

May the pen-disease virus be merciful on your finance laugh.gif

This picture reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer rents out his Karl Farbman chest for the Japanese tourists to sleep in the drawers because the chest is so big!

Do you sleep in this chest also? lticaptd.gif lticaptd.gif lticaptd.gif
