Ann suggested I repost this here so the experts might see it.

I have an Esterbrook Safari pen. When I got it there was an ink cartridge in it. Well when I tried to write with it after a couple of letters it drops a big blob of ink. Also the cartridge leaks in the barrel.

On the cartridge is the statement “insert yellow end first.” I have no idea what that means. If you put the cartridge in the barrel it goes down to far to be pierced by the section. If you try to insert the cartridge into the section first it really doesn’t work.

There is a 2268 nib in it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have the short esterbrook cartridges. They were designed to enable you to store two cartridges in the barrel at a time. That way, when one cartridge ran out you could use the other. To properly use, you need to have two cartridges and place the yellow ends together.

You might have an enlarged opening on your cartridge which could cause it to leak like that.
