beowulf
Hello,

I thought I'd share this with you and maybe you have a solution. For some time now I have been keeping a journal and I used to write with a pen called "Micron Pigma" by Sakura. Obviously, Sakura pens are no fountain pens, but they write nicely, you can draw with them, they are always usable, and the ink is archivable. About a year ago, I switched back to fountain pens, settling for J. Herbin's Éclat de Saphir for its color.

Recently, I came back from a travel and unpacked my briefcase to find that some medicine that I had carried along had leaked. Since I carried it in a plastic bag, I didn't think much of it. However, some of the liquid found it's way out and soaked the corner of my journal. wallbash.gif Do I need to say more ... angry.gif

So, here is my question. I hear and read that Noodler's ink is waterproof, but I cannot find a list of colors that are available. To make it simple, I only want blue ink, and the shade should be similar to Éclat de Saphir. Are there writiting samples for Noodler's ink? Pointers are highly welcome. Thanks!

True, but TWD doesn't list all the Noodler's product line, nor the exclusives of Pendemonium, Swisher, Art Brown and maybe others.

FPN is a good resource. Spend some time in the Ink Reviews and Inky Thoughts areas of FPN. Previously posted material will keep you reading and learning for many days, weeks and perhaps longer.

There are several permanent Noodlers blue inks out there. I have two at the moment, but neither is close to J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir in color. Perhaps one of the other blues will be a closer match, or maybe one of the new blues that are being released in the coming weeks. Have fun searching for the right ink!

Hm, maybe Noodler's La Couleur Royale? But that is not waterproof, I think ...

La Couleur Royale is not waterproof, and it's too purple compared to Éclat de Saphir. Éclat de Saphir does have a bit of purple hue, but like most J. Herbin inks, it was originally developed for dip pens, which write much wetter than most fountain pens, so most FP users who use Éclat de Saphir experience only a diluted, medium-dark blue.

Making an irresponsible brainstorm recipe (the only ingredient of these that I have is the black): Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue (available from most Noodler's retailers), which has almost no purple hue, with a tiny bit of Noodler's Iraqi Indigo (a Pendemonium exclusive) for the purple and a tinier bit of Noodler's Black to cover up any excess redness, might be just the ticket for Beowulf.
