I've seen this pen for sale with a broad steel nib. No other info and as I don't own an Esti is it worth $10 ?.
Thanks in advance.

$10 is about the price for an Estie that may need a sac replaced.
Just have to be aware that if you have to do the work, you may have to invest in the materials and the time to fix it.

Looks like an SJ. I just bought one in a lot. $10 would be good for it. Even if it needs to be resaced it would be worth it. If it needs J bar then that would start to get up there. Sacs are $2 and J bars are $3.50 not including shipping. Those are prices off Gios site. Both are very easy fixes and shouldn't deter you from buying the pen. Odds are the J bar is fine. I would think $10 is a good deal for the pen in writing shape and go from there. I should say that I would buy it for $10 either way but I am a little more paritial to them than others.

Not only is it worth it, but if it is a particular nib, the nib alone may be worth it. You don't mention the nib number aside from being broad (virtually all Estie nibs are steel). Broad Estie nibs are not as common as some of the others.
I'd buy it for $10.

Second that. I wouldn't even ask for a discount, and that's saying something.

the x314 is practically
THE nib Esterbrook is known for. If you're only going to have one, that's a good nib to have.

Brian, got the pen, re-sac'd it. Inked it up.
Absolutely brilliant nib. Makes my chicken scratch look half decent. Very smooth. This is a pen I could easily overlook. Not any more.

I would say so, espeicially if you have any interest in the nib. FWIW I just spent a bit more than that on a replacement nib for my Estie J! (The nib was NOS however.)
