FINALLY, Uncle Sam was good to us this year and the love of my life, the woman I can not do without, whom I just love so dearly.... allowed me to splurge a little on myself.
I just got a Nikon D50 Digital SLR... I have been a Nikon junkie since the old F series... and have a bunch of autofocus lenses from my film camera... so I just purchased the body...
Got what I think is a good deal... D50 body, 1GB card, card reader, tripod and bag (really don't need the last two, but it was part of the package). Total with shipping was $583.00... Placed the order on Sunday and it arrived in MD from NY today...
Now all I have to do it wait for the battery to charge (Dang, is it done yet)... and read the manual... all 136 pages of it...
As soon as I get some practice in, I will post a pic or two of some of my new eBay pens....
MMMMMM... do I sell the Minolta Dimage 5 I havem or make my wife use it and not let her use the Nikon....
Hey, I love her dearly... but I am not sure I love her enough to let her play with my new Nikon...

Griz: Good score on your part and I wish Uncle Sam was good to me - I owe this year since I underestimated my income. The return says I made more money this year than last, but it does not seem like it. Oh well.

I need to get a digital cam. My daughter got a smaller one for college (the kids like something lighter and dont worry about detail as much as we might with closeups). She also has a camera phone she uses. All I have is a $18 digital cam that I can now use to take still pics in my office, but mostly as an afterthought. If you can recommend a cheaper digital cam that would be sufficient to show details on this forum, let me know by PM or email. Some of the pictures of pens and the closeup of the nib are stunning for the detail they can show

Congrats Griz! I was planning to do the same, and put all my Canon lenses back to work!

Your pics weren't bad before, Tom, but now you'll begin to challenge the likes of Bill R. et al. :bunny1: Good going, and I'm sure that you have either already or will soon fete mother with a festive dinner out.

No hijack attempt here, but I can't pass up the opportunity to congratulate Sam, too. He knows what for. Good on you, Sam; I hope it sticks so I can read you again. smile.gif

Roger: I am struggling, but I have to keep reminding myself enough so it becomes a habit.
