Well I couldn't wait any longer. I bought this never inked Parker "51" Aero, GF cap, and have held it lovingly waiting to decide what to ink it with.

PR DC Supershow Blue was the ink I choose. I have a Black "51" Vacumatic loaded with Pelikan Brillant Black, and a Burgandy "51" Aero loaded with Waterman Black/Blue. For the Forest Green I wanted a nice Bright Blue, and the DC Supershow Blue has fit the bill. I will probably switch it to the Noodler's Luxury Green when that is released, but for now I will enjoy the Bright Blue.

I know there are those who think an older un-inked pen should not be inked. I bought the pen to use and be in rotation with the other 2, that are used on a daily basis.

What a feeling though, to know I was the first person to write with the pen. I was almost shaking the first time it hit the paper. I know I will have many, many years of writing enjoyment out of this beautiful piece.

Really gorgeous. The nib shot is fantastic too. Somehow my only reliable "51"s have much finer nibs than I like on a daily basis. Your photo may have inspired me to go back on the hunt .

That dark green is beautiful.

Amin,

Try to get hold of some UK 51s; they generally have broader nibs.

That is the start of a good "51" set there, I like it!!

I agree, they were made to be used, so ink 'em up and enjoy 'em I say wink.gif

Amin, I echo what Ray says, try for an English "51" the majority were made with a medium nib, which in the US could be classed a a broad. What this means is loads of tipping material to have it tweaked into a stub or just smoothed into an incredible daily writer.

This green pen is a M and definatly a much smoother writer than the other two. One was sold as a F the other a M, but I can't tell the difference. The two F/M put down a smooth line, but the Green M is smooth and wide, and a great writer.

Is there any way to tell by looking at them what size they are?

Ray and Jim, thanks for the advice. I noticed this difference with the gorgeous nib on my UK Duofold Maxima. I see several nice UK "51"s on WetInc.com as well - I'm tapped out budget-wise for now, but will be looking soon wink.gif.
