I bought a ton of ink From the Platinum Pen Store. Looks like they will no longer be dealing with Platinum pens and products anymore. I posted a thread on it and it is somewhere on FPN. Anyways, ink was on major blow out and I picked up 6 bottles of black ink for 3.99 each. All they had left in bottled ink is Black and red, I dont use red very often and I am very picky about the color red. They have plenty of red ink left for 1.99 a bottle and cartridges for 3.99.

Anyways, along with the 6 bottles of Platinum Black ink, I also bought the remainder of their Platinum Black Carbon ink which was 4 bottles for 7.99 each. I was reluctant to use it on some of my nicer pens but as often as I use them and clean them out, I decided to take a chance and fill up a pen. I have a modern black Sheaffer Balance with a medium 18kt gold nib and I decided to use this pen. I have about 3 identical modern Sheaffer Balance in the color black that I got dirt cheap from ebay a while a go, and 3 other balance II in other colors and designs. I thought that this pen would be somewhat expendable.

I filled her up last night and I have been writing with it ever since. I will do a detailed review later on in the week after I use this pen and do a couple of fillings. I want to make sure it is an accurate review of this ink.

So far, the ink is extremely lubricating and is a very nice flowing ink. The color is jet black and I really happen to like the true black that it puts down on the paper. I am still a bit concerned of the possibility of clogging. I am sure if I continue to maintain my pens as I normally do, I dont see a problem. After I use up a converter or piston full or what ever filling system the pen has, I always flush the pen out until the water coming out of the pen is clear. After that, then I fill the pen up. There are some exceptions to my habit but if I am not under a time crunch or have customers, meetings or busy in general, I will always flush out my pens. Anyways, some food for thought!! I will give a detailed review when I think I have the inks characteristics defined.

Anyways, have a good Day!!! AND HAPPY MONDAY!!! <_<

Do you think it's important to let the feed air out? I've been trying to do this when getting a new color ink, but it's hard being patient. laugh.gif

Feed air out?? Am I missing something? Not enough coffee this morning and also an early photoshoot. I think the stormy weather has my mind raining!! laugh.gif I know what you are saying!!! Im just being a smart "you know what"!!!

I know that no matter how hard I try, I always get a bit of discolored water after I flush the pen out and let it sit for a while. I will take a pen out of my rotation, completely clean it inside and out and store it. Whenever I decided to put that pen back in my rotation, I will always flush it out a few time to try to get rid of any dried ink, dust, grime or whatever. When I fill it with water to flush it out a few times, I get a nice light tint of the ink I used last. I think the only way to get rid of any trace of ink is total disassembly and soaking it in an ultra sonic cleaner. I would think that it would be overkill, especially if the pens are everyday users that look pretty good and write like a charm!!!
