Sorry no pics yet but I must tell you this.

I was in Auckland last week and invited a friend of mine for a BBQ. He is an avid collector and brought around a few Parker 51's - 48 in fact.

Each one was different including demonstrators a few yellow ones (never seen these before), even a titanium one. I've suggested he posts a pic for all Parker lovers to drool over.

As a side bar he had also a converted briefcase containing about 60 vintage pens of very rare models. I was flabbergasted..I've never seen such mint pens. A real treat to see them in the flesh. I've seen some in books but wow !
A prisitine red hard rubber Waterman with silver overlay was just one I remember.

Hi Gary,

You know my weakness for the odd "51", but 48, somebody would kill me laugh.gif

The titanium, "51", just by chance that did not come from my friend Ralph Prather? He is making a small number of Titanium "51" Vac reproductions, internal parts under the hood are all Parker I believe, but the hood, body, filler and blind cap he is making. Costs about the same as a T1, I want one, but like I say, my life is in danger as somebody wants a new carpet and sees that as more important rolleyes.gif

Gary, 48 Parker "51"s? Now, that's what I call an avid collector! It would be great if he could join in and post pics of his Parker collection. drool.gif

Yikes. I'm lucky to have the one my father handed to me the other day. I enjoy writing with it so much that I can understand the desire to collect them.

This weekend I went to the Seattle Pen Club meeting at the home of Sterling Picard, in Tacoma WA. His living-room is filled with glass display cases - big store-counter style glass display cases - with trays full of old Duofolds, Lucky Curve's, Sheaffer Balances, ephemera, original pen trays, etc. One tray had 10-12 slots full of BHR Parkers. Every slot was filled and more were stacked in between. I think he had every color of Duofold made. He has 4 original Sterling pen company display trays, all full of Sterling Pen Company hard rubber pens.

It was something else.

It would help if people would give me the addresses of serious 51 collectors with details of when they will be away from home and any info on their alarm systems unsure.gif
Apollo
Well if that's the case, care to share your address? biggrin.gif
Ruaidhri
If you to share the "job" we can cut a pair of tights (pantyhose) in two and save on overheads biggrin.gif
BTW anyone want to buy some fairly hot 51s - available shortly cool.gif
