Full Version: Fess up: do you use just one color of ink?

Reading through the posts here makes me sort of "anxious" - everyone seems to have a dozen different inks, and enjoy switching between them (apparently with some frequency.)

While I have several colors sitting on my desk, I've found that I'm really using only one: in my case, Legal Lapis. Why just one? I like the color, and I don't like to see different colors in my notebook as I switch pens every other day!

Of course, I would never put up with having the same food every day, nor wearing the same clothes; heck, I don't even like using the same pen more than two days in a row! But when it comes to my ink color, by golly I want it to be "MY" color, all day and every day!

Are there any other boring, repetitive, predictable people like me out there, perhaps in hiding? Do we need therapy? Will Noodler's go broke because of us??

Not at all - I use Waterman's Florida Blue most of the time.

In my work notebook I only use black ink (currently Aurora Black), with a fine nib.
In my journal (pocket Moleskine), I use Noodler's Midnight Blue with an XF nib.
However, on my miscelaneous notes and correspondence I use whatever is loaded on the pens I am carrying. I like some variety in colors there, but it is not necessary.

I use black & blue in white paper,
and brown in ivory paper

I mostly use Noodler's Gulfstream Blue in everything rolleyes.gif except when I get lazy and put a blue-black cartridge in my Vanishing Point ohmy.gif

Yes, Grant, you’re abnormal. I am, too. Most of us are, in one way or another (just look at the results of the personality test we were urged to do).

Ok so I had a rummage through my ink draw, guess what? Loads of Blue, Quink Blue, PR Blue, Herbin Blue, Diamine Blue. Oh and a couple of bottles of Quink Blue/Black and a solo Quink Black.

Maybe it is because I am colour blind and can't really see the Red/Green/Brown colours, they all look like shades of a greyness to me. But blue I can see, and yellow, but I don't fancy writing in yellow ink blink.gif

Three pens inked today, two "51"s with Quink Blue and Blue/Black and a 61 with PR DC Supershow Blue.

Am I blue NO, am I happy YES lticaptd.gif

I just have Lamy bottled blue/black in my 2000 and a purple Lamy cartridge in my slim (model unknown) Lamy. Both are medium nibs.

One ink? Are you kidding! wink.gif I flip flop inks all the time, only putting the same one back in a pen on rare occasions. I like variety when it comes to inks.

I've used only Aurora Black for the last 4 years.

I usually use Waterman Fl. Blue but got brave and inked a pen today with Aurora Black..

I keep coming back to black and blue-black, but I like to use different colours now and again.

I like the way my journal and notebook have differnt colours on different days.

I have Quink Black. That's it.

I have about 12 bottles of ink, but they are almost all blue or black.

The vial system is a great way to get off colors that I don't use often, but almost all my pens have blue, blue-black, or black in them.

What an interesting topic!!! Out of well over 100 and some what bottle of colored water (ink) I have to admit that I tend to use only 5 to 10 colors on a regular basis and then even out of that I use 2 to 3 even more often than the 5 to 10

PR- DC Supershow Blue
PR- American Blue
Noodlers- Black
Noodlers- Blue
Noodlers- Aircorp Blue Black
Aurora- Black
Pilot/Namiki- Black
Parker Quink- Black
Parker Quink- Blue Black

Out of these that I use the Most are
PR- DC Supershow Blue
PR- American Blue
Noodlers- Black

As you can tell, I use primarly, Blues, Blacks and Blue Blacks. Since I work for the Government they only allow us to use Blue or Black, so that is why I have so many Blues and Black in my collection. Out of my whole collection to include Black, Blue and Blue Black I must have at least 60+ bottles of these colors.

I am going to have to take a picture of all of my inks and the cabinet that I store them in. My wife laughs at the amount of ink that I have, but you can never have too much of the ink that you like to use!!!

Heh, heh. Well, you just keep on using that one color of ink. Sure, you'll feel perfectly safe thinking that it'll be all that you'll need. Until the day when you suddenly find that we've brought you to the dark side of the ink bottle!!! Heh, heh, heeeehh.

Although I have two favorite blues that dwell in the majority of my pens, I have expanded my palette, both for the colors and flow characteristics. Some pens just work better with a particular ink, and i like to have a selection of inks to choose from in that regard.
