Just wanted to be first in congratulating FPN admin for doing what the users want. Excellent stuff. This is why FPN rocks.

Apollo
Indeed. We now have a place to discuss all things Parker. smile.gif
Ann Finley
Bravo, Apollo & Amin for taking on the task! smile.gif

With just 2 Parkers, I'll be reading more than posting, but I'll bet it will be a busy forum!

I thought "Apollo's Arrows" for a topic title recently sounded almost mythical! biggrin.gif

Best, Ann
amin
Thanks Ann. I agree that this forum is likely to be busy as it should be smile.gif . Thanks to FPN admin for making it happen!

Thanks for the kind words, Ann. I've got a soft spot for those arrows (Parkers) biggrin.gif

Ssshhhhhh! Don't tell the other Admins... I'm a fan of Parker too... wink.gif laugh.gif

EDIT - don't think I've said this yet, so Congrats and Welcome, Amin and Apollo! I'm sure you'll love it here. cool.gif

Thanks raf! Definitely is the place to be wink.gif. Many thanks to Stylo and Denis (I'm assuming it was you guys?) for moving the Parker threads here!
Gerry
I'd like to add my congratulations to the double A team (AA in more ways than just one...smile.gif ) for bringing us the Parker Forum. I too have a few and they are among my favorite pens (don't tell Brian ohmy.gif ).

Onward and upward...

Gerry
amin
Thanks Gerry! Everyone seems so embarrassed of their Parkers. I'm going to get a complex here tongue.gif.
Apollo
Embarrassed of their Parkers? There's nothing to be embarrassed about with Parkers. Even the legendary Noble Savage who's known in certain circles as the notorious "Bexley Bandit" has a couple of Parkers! biggrin.gif

Hey, TNS! This one's for you buddy.

BAM!!!

BobR
This is wonderful news. I've got several vintage Parkers, and a 75 that's getting a nib grind, I'll be here a lot, they're my favorite. Congratulations Amin and Apollo--Apollo I assume you're enjoying that 45 I traded to you!

Great News...

Of all my pens, Parkers are the most numerous, though all vintage. I look forward to discussion on vintage Duofolds..... eureka.gif , my favorites.

All the best to the new Moderators as well. I look forward to learning more.

Hear, hear.

And I too will be reading far more than posting (at least in the Parker forum), for as of the moment, I am Parker-free blink.gif sad.gif blink.gif ! (still a bit of ingrained heresy, I guess tongue.gif )

Ruaidhri, that sounds like an amazing collection of Parkers you've got there. Care to share some pics?

As for embarrassment anout Parkers - with G saying not to tell the other admins and Gerry saying not to tell Brian - I was only joking of course wink.gif.

Raymond
This is absolutely great. I love a Parker forum.

Have not counted how many Parkers I have.

Let me see:
5 X 51s including the SE
4 X 21s all supers
3 X vacumatics
1 X 61
1 X VP
1 X 180
2 X Modern Duofold Centennial
1 X Modern Duofold International
2 X 75 cisele plus a pencil and 2 ballpoints
1 X Premier Chinese Laque
about 25 Jotters including the 50th anniv.

Yes I want a Parker Forum.

I've got a serious Parker 51 obsession, I probably should seek out help. In the mean time though, I've been thinking of looking at some 21s and 45s.. How do they compare to the 51?

Also, does anyone know of a good source for 51 fine or extra fine nibs? I've got some medium nibs that I can't stand.

I have spent more money on pens, fountain pens and otherwise (yes, I admit it, I frequently use a Mont Blanc Le Grand ballpoint and some others), and the best pen I have ever owned was a Parker 51, Blue Diamond, vacummatic, which was bought (by my fiance, now my wife) for 20 bucks at a flea market back in the early 90s. I lost it, to my likely eternal dismay, in the summer of '92, while spending the summer in Columbia, South Carolina. I have bought others since, but for some reason, none have quite matched up (though perhaps grief and nostalgia have caused my memory of the lost pen to be a little unrealistic).

What a pleasure it is to join this forum.

By the way, Garythepenman, do you happen to practice law in Washington D.C.?

One more thing . . . can anyone explain how you put pictures in the corners of these emails?

Do you mean the "avatars" (pictures) to the left with the member's name? If you do it's under "My Controls" at the top of the page. Then go to "Edit avatar settings" one of the choices along the left.

Welcome to FPN Barrister.

I have just joined as a Parker collector and I want to put up my wish list:

My wish list
Aside from some very special Parker eyedroppers I am specifically looking for a lizard pattern Parker Duofold or Victory from England in the early 40's.
If anyone knows of any please let me know. I have a special branch of my collection with Newhaven nibs including herringbones, but no spiral patterns yet.
Missed out on a Parker 45 and a 46 on eBay recently - they went for really good prices, I was a bit silly and nervous.
