Well, I ordered my first non black inks yesterday. Visconti Turquoise, Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue and Private Reserve Daphne Blue. Yes I know I am not much for adventure when it comes to ink... not sure when I would use a green or red or any variation of those. Brown will be next I think.... I do kinda like Noodlers Apache Sunset so I may someday get up the nerve to order that. Just can't see spending money on something I may never use... sigh.

Oh my! You will probably be one of the first here to do that if you suceed! You definitely ought to try other colors eventually. You may end up with a few bottles that don't get used much--I have--but I discovered Noodlers Antietam which I like very much and use a lot. Otherwise it's black and shades of blue. But even within that, different brands will produce variations which you may like.
I figured that with all the money I spent on the pens, why not spend a bit more to be able to get the most use and pleasure from them? Plus you can sell or trade...
For instance, yesterday I was delighted to find a local store that carries Waterman Blue-Black. Never had it but it's arguably the most popular ink--at least based on surveys and comments here and elsewhere. Did I need it? No! And I find that I like it very much. Half the fun is experimenting and I'm glad my hobby isn't automobiles.

Well - I currently have 1 bottle of black, 3 bottles of some sort of blue and 1 bottle of green, so I'm not exactly setting a standard of creativity. But my work is such that I'm fairly certain I'd not use a purple or turqoise, or even brown for that matter, ink.

I will likely add some sort of red to the mix at some point, however.

Hey guys,

You're all expressing the same thoughts I had when my fountain pen madness was rekindled. biggrin.gif

Guess what? Ink is cheaper to buy than most fountain pens. So now the count is 89 different inks, 77 of those in bottles.... biggrin.gif laugh.gif wallbash.gif wallbash.gif laugh.gif
