Does anyone have first hand knowledge about Rohrer and Klinger Inks from Germany?

For reviews of all of them by Michael Richter, click here. I don't know where to buy them.

Rohrer & Klinger inks are currently only sold in Europe, and even then only in a few countries. However, the good news is that you can order them through Tom Westerich's internet shop.

Going through the dealer list on the Rohrer and Klingner site, I see that the art shop /:) at a 5 minute walk from work, where I buy materials regularly, is not just a dealer, but a distributor as well! So I'll pop in there tomorrow. It is a very big store, with lots of nooks and crannies, so that is probably why I have missed it so far.

I'll report back.... biggrin.gif

I believe Pendemonium is going to start selling them or already has www.pendemonium.com However, I have no personal experience with these inks, but I've got nothing but great things to say about Pendemonium (usual disclaimer here)

Edit: Tried to do a quick check at the Pendemonium site and for some strange reason it's down or at least with my connection.

I just checked the Pendemonium website & it says that those inks are coming soon. They have a color chart of those inks too. Hope this helps!

Hmm. I wonder how permanent the permanent blue is.

I had e-mailed Sam at Pendemonium last week about these inks (since they've had "coming soon" up for quite some time.) She replied on 3/3 that she had hoped they'd have had them before the LA show, and then hoped they'd be there when they returned from the LA show--but no ink. She said she'd be checking on it.

They did take their sample bottles to the LA show and she said everyone seem to like the samples.

Best, Ann

I enjoyed the Richter reviews. As some other kind wirters have noted, Pendimonium is waiting for a shipment.

Does anyone know how water resistant this ink is? Is it a dry writing or more lubricating ink?

Yes, and Pendemonium's digital color card doesn't include the iron gall colors. If that were Pendemonium's decision I'd agree with it because iron gall could be riskier to sell for fountain pen use.

I have never ordered anything from Tom, actually. I assumed that he still is in business, because he is still listed on Michael RichterŽs site as the internet address for Rohrer & Klingner inks, because his site still seems to work, and because he visited the Tilburg pen show last year.

Sorry if I was mistaken.

Warm regards, Wim

Just a report back from my visit to the art shop:

They do have a lot of Rohrer & Klingner stuff indeed, many different colours of inks biggrin.gif , which somehow didnŽt seem familar unsure.gif . I then realized they were all permanent, pigmented inks, for use with paint brushes and for calligraphy with dip pens only... wallbash.gif wallbash.gif wallbash.gif

I asked whether they did any of the fp inks, and they said they didnŽt. They were prepared to order, but there was a minimum quantity per bottle, which could well be 6 or 10, and I would have to take all. sad.gif

Oh well, IŽll have to try a different method, then biggrin.gif.

Warm regards, Wim

Cmon Wim,

What's a few hundred bottles of ink between friends? blink.gif

Too bad they don't carry the FP line. I used to get all sorts of neat inks from a place right down the street from me. They even sold some pens but gave it up, I most of been the only person actually browsing the display cases. They carried the Walther Bethge and Rubinato lines. I'll have to drop in and see what they have left. The Rubinato bottles were neat (maybe not great for filling, but they sure looked nice).

OK, Wim, here is the next possibility, and their prices are good, but their variety of R&K inks has decreased (I assume you understand a bit of the language spoken by "de Moffe"):

Hi saintsimon,

Thank you for that link! I understand the language rather well, so that isn't a problem biggrin.gif.

Of course the first thing I clicked on was Stipula, but that page was still empty rolleyes.gif.

I found the color card on Pendemoniums site lscking clarity. I got a better sens of colors from the Richter site. I have reserved some 3 bottles from Pendemonium
