Full Version: Flow problem (I think)

Bought a modern Conway Stewart Duro about 3 weeks ago. Pens looks lovely and I love the way it writes when it has just been filled from the ink bottle...it's a very smooth, wet writer with a nib that's feels delightful.

The problem is that after about 1-2 sides of A4 the flow starts to decrease and its gets quite miserly until it eventually starts skipping (3-4 sides). This is remedied by twisting the converter to get ink back in to the nib at which point the cycle starts over.

I've tried different inks (Diamine Indigo, Parker BB, Pelikan BB, Waterman BB), I've tried flushing it with soapy water and currently have a cartridge in it - same problem.

I'm not quite sure where the problem is...
if it's the nib/feed why does it write so well for a side or so
if it's the converter why do I have the problem with a cartridge also (and vice versa)

Any other simple suggestions to try or shall I get in touch with CS and get them to look at it under the waranty (and for those of you who have tried this yourselves how long might CS take with it currently)?

This is simply a WAG, but it sounds like a air lock problem to me... I appears that you have enough ink in the feed to write a page or so, but the ink in the converter or cartridge is not being replaced with air from the feed to continue the flow... by twisting the converter or squeezing the cartridge you are reloading the feed.

I think I would get in touch with CS and let them take a look at it.... sounds like the feed is not transferring air back to the ink supply...

But as I said this is just a WAG on my part...
