So as to not hijack TNS' Bexley Collection thread, here's a new thread with photos of my Bexley pens. As many of you know, I am a Bexley dealer, but I also collect them for myself.

Classique Cracked Ice, Equipoise Blue, Blue Lightning (LE made for Bertrams), M100 Jade Prototype, Sheherazade Cracked Ice Prototype, Red Deluxe Button Filler (ca. 1993-94)

5th Anniversary Carved Obsidian, Gaston Salute to Lawyers, Deluxe Demonstrator, 10th Anniversary Lime (converted to pneumatic filler by Lex Villines), Sheherazade Tortoise, Gemstone

Submariner Grande Blue Pearl (Richard Binder exclusive), Submariner Grande celluloid, Submariner Grande 2005 Parkville Pen LE gold trim/silver trim, Submariner Grande 2006 Parkville Pen LE, Submariner Mandarin 2005 Parkville Pen SE

Prometheus Cracked Ice, 2006 Owner's Club Amber, 2006 Owner's Club Silver.
As TNS said about his collection, this is not the end but only the beginning.
Hope you enjoy the pics.

Sam,
The Salute to Lawyers Bexley is only sold by Jim Gaston and he still shows them available on his web site. One of those pens I thought "I had to have."

dennis: what a small, small world. jim gaston owns gaston? my brother in law is a state trooper in mountain home and gastons is just up the hollar. eaten there several times and my niece's rehearsal dinner was there. also some club 61 or something like that we eat lunch at, but not as good as gastons. they had a chelsea's in town that was good, but it closed. i go to jim's catfish on lake norfolk when i am there.
probably a good thing i did not see that pen too early on, lol
i dont know if he has a store or whatnot, but maybe when i come back to mountain home, he'd let me see his collection. i used to go skiing up there, but with my kid at college, she is only home for a short time. ill be up there football season as my nephew is gonna be a fullback for the hogs

Sam,
Small world indeed. When I was a public defender, one of the county prosecutors went fishing at Gastons resort every year. I've bought several pens from Jim, but have never visited the resort.

my hats off to any public defender. in memphis, ive heard people say that they can not afford an attorney, judge says he will appoint the public defender, and the defendant says he wants a real attorney. the public has no idea how hard the defender works, and in memphis, they get paid less than the prosecutor that goes against them. i work with legal services in memphis on a pro bono basis, and people seem to sneer at those who practice public interest law or work for the indigent. some of the best trial lawyer work is by PD's and legal aid attorneys. they just dont have the resources to have powerpoint presentations for trials.
parkville, MO. where is that in relation to the state? i have family in blytheville, ark, so that is close to the border. been to springfield, and took in a game in kansas city and ate at the hereford house (WOW).

Sam,
Parkville is a Kansas City, MO suburb. Old river town, home of Park University (and Parkville Pen).
Thanks for the kind words about public defenders. Missouri has one of the best systems in the country with well trained, though overworked lawyers. I don't work full time anymore, but still do some special public defender cases for the state. And, you're right, we made far less than the assistant prosecutors we went up against, but we were far better lawyers!

Dennis,
Are your photos size-accurate? The Owner's Club looks longer than the Prometheus. It that the case?
Dan
P.S. Surprised you don't have an Americana in your personal collection. They might be my favorites!
Dennis B
Mar 5 2006, 12:36 AM
Dan,
All the photos were shot to the same scale and yes, the Owner's Club pens are longer than a Prometheus. As to Americanas, I have a couple put aside that will be part of my collection one day, along with both the Chocolate and Orange ebonite 10th Anniversary pens. I just haven't "officially" made them part of the collection yet.

Yes, I broke down and ordered a Bexley owners club in the Blue in Silver with Stub Nib!!! THis will complete my collection for quite some time. Thank Goodness I did some Overtime last pay period to pay for it!!! This has been tearing at my soul and I knew I had to get at least one of them after Howard Levy showed me his.
Wonderful pens. Just curious as to the flow of the ink with the new vacumatic filler?
I cannot wait. I hope I can get the pen in one of the numbers I requested.

TNS,
I'm finding the flow to be very good, on par with my Sheherazade. That is, better, IMHO, that the C/C filler pens. I think you'll be very pleased.

I know I will be extremely happy. I only had one issue with a bexley pen out of 11 of them. The problem was corrected in a matter of a week. These are one of the finest pens made today!!! Howard is an interesting character to talk to and it was really cool to find out the history of the company and how the process of making pens are done at Bexley. He was telling me that besides himself, there are only 3 1/2 people working at the factory. It is amazing how they keep production up with very little over head. It is a smart business that he runs

i saw a post at pentrace about a guy who broke a piece of his aspen pen. one response was that they were less than thrilled with the response of bexley. i mean, anything can happen in communication, but are there dangers in dropping these pens> i mean, are they more prone to cracking or dings>

Well, I have to admit that I am suspicious of a lot of things that go on at Pentrace IMHO. As for the service, if you are the original owner and filled out the warranty card, the pen is good for life. If you bought it off of the greenboard and you and then you break it then dont expect for it to be covered especially if it is not your name on the warranty card. As for the Warranty, That is for defective parts or pen. Ya really dont want to drop pens and that is neglegance and most places will not cover that. I dropped my bexley nib first on the floor and that dorked up my nib big time. Instead of paying for a brand new nib unit he charged me 30.00, the same price for a nib swap if the nib was used.
I have several stories that I wont post due to the fact it is bed time but they are great pens and they are not any weaker or stronger than any other pen. A pen is made out of the same material as most other pens. Acrylic or celluloid or what ever, if a pen falls and hits the floor at the right distance or area, the pen will break!!!

Thought I'd add a photo of the latest addition to the Bexley collection. This one is the 2001 Pen Collectors of America Limited Edition made by Bexley from ebonite. The pen was designed to be used as an eyedropper and an eyedropper was even furnished. Cartirdges or converters can also be used and the clip can be removed, if one desires, for a cleaner vintage taper cap appearance. Nice pen and a great writer with a smmoth medium nib.

The newest addition to the Bexley Collection. The Cable Twist in Bronze, #264/1000. I have been told most were C/C fillers, but this one is a button filler. Appears to have never been used. A real beauty with a 14K Bexley nib.
Enjoy,

Time to add the latest Bexley to the photos I have posted here. This is the latest Limited Edition, marking the 3rd Anniversary of Parkville Pen. An America the Beautiful in Chocolate Ebonite with matching ebonite section and Rose Gold plated trim.
I don't just sell them, I use them, and I have this one (#01/30) filled as an eyedropper with PR Black Magic Blue. Fine nib that is a smooth as anyone could want and excellent flow. (I swapped out the Medium in the photo for a Fine)

Nice Shot, Dennis!!! BTW, my Bexley came in and I love it!!!! I love the rose gold clip and cap bands!!!
The funny thing is that your pen number is 1/30 and mine is 30/30. You have the first pen made while I had the last one made!!! Pretty special pens!!!
Here is a picture of mine along with the Owners Club!
