Another pen to my modest but growing Conway Stewart collection. The 36 is like a small version of the 58 in every way. What is not so common is the striped pattern.
Most CS patterns seem to be marbled colours, herringbone and the famous cracked ice varients. This is the only striped one I have.

Hi,

I feel some of the designs used on the Conway Stewart vintage pens were amazing. Even with all the technology we have today, it is extremely hard to replicate these finishes.

Kind regards,

Lovely pen, Gary.

I would be very interested to know how these different patterns are created. I have ideas about bits of acrylic being crushed/sliced/chipped etc and then heated to weld together and then machined and polished. I've' not convinced my self though.

The 36 range was also available in green and blue stripes ('striated'), the three hatch colours (which seem to be rarer than the others) and plain black. The 36 is the only pen model to feature the three striated colours. Nice pens!

Greg,

I would like to know how any patterns were made. I wonder if it's similar to pattern'd glass ?. Some of the vintage ones have amazing designs in the plastic.

Maybe Mary can ask ?
