I just joined this board. It has been very helpful to me in learning about fountain pens and collecting. I only have 4 FP's right now but I plan on buying more; probably starting with the Parker "51"s. Frankly, I had assumed that prices of most vintage pens were too expensive and only recently learned of my mistake.
I have used a Parker "51" for over 20 years as my primary writing instrument. I found it in my uncle's personal effects after he died. It was in the original box and was never used. I promptly threw out the box and inked it up......
I also use a newer Waterman from time to time, but the Parker "51" is much easier to use (it doesn't dry out like the Waterman and it's easier to fill the aerometric sac less often).
