Full Version: Damaged my older VP

One week ago, I got a new fine point insert for my older (faceted body, ca. 1994) VP. I decided to clean the "hood" section and got overly aggresive with a thin straw. I accidentally removed a rubber gasket that mounts to the flap.
1) Can I repair it?
2) Any idea if Namiki would repair it and how much they'll charge?

Possible to post a picture of what happened?

Unfortunately, a picture won't reveal anything. Basically, here's what happened:
While running water through the inside of the front end of the barrel (from center to tip), I tried to open the hatch with a thin straw. I thought I'd manage to get more build-up out this way (doh!). Instead, I poked a small piece of rubber (gasket) off of the hatch and out of the barrel. The gasket looks like a small cylinder cut on the bias.

Send it to Namiki. Their customer support is excellent and the trap doors fail quite a lot, so they will probably repair the pen at no charge. It is THE main weakness in an otherwise excellent design.
