To where to find the designation on the 2000 for nib width. Thanks, Kevin

EDIT: It's not a 2000, but might give a general idea of how they run.

That was a sample done by member alexanderino, his writing is enviable notworthy1.gif

The paper is A5 sized and scanned in full.

If you're trying to find out the nib size of a 2000, the new ones have the nib size on the actual nib hidden under the hood. You actually have to take the entire feed and nib out to see. This only applies to very new ones (I started seeing them on 2000s from about March 2008 onwards). The older ones don't have a nib size on the nibs and unless the tag with the nib size is still on the barrel, you can only really guesstimate.

Thank you both, I thought I had seen where it was printed on the body somewhere. This one seems to be a fine point compared to my Waterman's and Pelikan pen. Thanks again

Older versions of the L2K had the nib imprinting on the underside of the section. Lamy did away with that later on. For some reason, they don't stamp the nib size on the nib itself (never did). So, you more or less have to just examine the nib upclose and write with it to make your own determination. The writing sample above certainly helps. smile.gif

I bought a 2000 in a shop in Brussels and I choosed a Fine nib. I had to replace the nib after this stealth pen slipped off my hands on the floor and the nib was completely bent. I received a F nib that was much wider than the original one. I asked to replace it by an extra fine one. I received an XF, that was a little bit finer than the previous replacement, but still wider than the original F nib.
So the XF nib of the Lamy 2000 is still wider than even the M nib of my Pelikan 800 and than their own original F nib. I can live with it but the L 2000 is now empty far too quick for my needs and was replaced as a daily pocket writer by my new Aurora 88 vintage collection that has a better ink capacity.

Conclusion: or their production is very inconsistent, or they mingled their nibs in their stock and that's why they started inprinting the size on their nibs.

They do stamp it on the nib - just not where you can see it unless you remove the nib from the section. I have two nibs for my 2000 and both are imprinted where most nibs are, right behind the breather hole and out of site on the Lamy 2000. I can't comment on anything but new ones...
