I found a small balance with a feather touch nib.
It has a serial # on the top of the imprint.
It was my understanding, wow that could be way off, that the # were used as a means of recording the Lifetime Guarantee?
Is that correct and why on a non-guaranteed nib?

Serial numbers do appear on Feathertouch nibs.
I think that the idea that serial numbers were a mechanism to keep track of the lifetime warranty is a hypothesis more than an actual known fact, but maybe Kirche or RogerW has better info.

even if serial numbers were used to track of Lifetime nibs, I doesn't mean a serial number could not be used to track Feathertouch nibs too. They were also guaranteed, just not for a long.
