Does anyone make hard covers for Rhodia or Clairefontaine journals in the 14.8x21 cm (A5) size? I've been carrying a slightly narrower than A5 Moleskine, but I hate the paper and am going to switch to one of these other ones when I finish it. However, I dislike the soft covers on Rhodia/CF notebooks. Renaissance Art has had covers "coming soon" for a while, but I don't want to wait anymore.

If you know of a DIY cover for them, I'd be interested in that also.

I've seen them "coming soon" at renaissance art. They don't actually sell any that fit these notebooks, do they?

I know that RA makes custom covers, and I believe that was what was being reffered to. I second that suggestion, by the way.

Ok, got it. Is this pretty much my only option? They look soft to me, are the photographs deceiving?

Ren Arts coming soon has been on their website for well over a year now. Come on Arthur - put them online or remove the coming soon. Its getting ridiculous now. And I want them! Now! (stamps foot) puddle.gif

I third this suggestion! Contact them asking about a custom cover. I inquired about making a custom cover for the Clairefontaine Basics (5"x7") and the Exacompta Journey. They said they could make something with a stiffer cover for me. thumbup.gif I didn't follow up because I found the Quo Vadis Habanas, which seem to be fulfilling my basic journaling needs (for now wink.gif). They did say that they wanted me to ship the journal to them so they could actually see it to make it.

It is pretty pricey, and the picture looks like it is fairly thick, but

might be what you want (has pen loop, choice of materials).

A google search revealed some things that might be close to what you want (hint, use 'a5 slip cover' instead of 'a5 hard cover').

Thanks, I hadn't heard that term before. That helps quite a bit.

I have one of these, and they're great. I wish I had the equipment (and leather supplier) that those folks have.

As to the original suggestion, keep in mind that these covers from Oberon are slip-ons for notebooks or sketchbooks that already have a hard cover.
