Howdy all,
I've just recieved a recent purchase from ebay and have a question about how it should behave. On my other lever fill pens, the lever comes out to at least 90 degrees, but this one does not. it only comes out to tabout 60. Is this normal or a sign of internal turmoil?
Thanks,
Eric

I should also mention that I have inked it up and it appears to hold ink prettty well. I used it at work yesterday, and it didn't leak in my pocket.

It would suggest that the sac may be going bad, or that the J bar is hitting something inside. If the J bar is not positioned properly, it may hit the end of the section. An internal examination is recommended.

Hi

Rob M., the ebay seller, is a good guy. I might suggest asking him this question.

Nice Pen btw.
From the bid results, you appear to have been determined. thumbup.gif

Good for you!

Nice pen. I'd also guess that the sac has hardened with age. If it hasn't been replaced recently, just cut it out and replace it - a sac cost about $2 and takes 10 minutes to replace. Go for it thumbup.gif

I reckon that, even if there is some problem, if it draws up ink you will still be able to get it to fill, if perhaps by pumping a few times more.

Thanks for all of the replies, I've tracked down a good instructional web site to show me how to open the pen and to take a look inside. I'm guessing now that there may be some problem with the J bar as Ron suggested, because Rob said that the sac had been replaced. Yeah, I agree. Rob is a great ebay seller. I've bought several pens from him in the past.

Oh, sorry, just one more question to clarify. Do all lever fillers extend to 90 degrees when they are working propery, or do some levers "fully" extend to vastly different angles?

Update:

I removed the section, and the sac had definitely been replaced as described. However there didin't seem to be any powder on it. I added a bit of powder to the sac, and now the lever has alot more freedom.
I now have another quesion. Should the piece of metal that the lever touches rest flush with the barrel? When I looked inside, I noticed that the part of the metal plate closest to the open end of the barrel was a few mm from the side. It doesn't seem like a real problem, but I was just curious.

At rest, the pressure bar should be pressing itself as tightly against the inner wall of the barrel as a non-curved item can manage on a curved surface. If it's standing proud, there's definitely something not right... although I'd expect it to be a low-grade, easily-fixed something. Drawing the bar to have a look at it is probably in order.

...and for some reason, a little voice is suggesting that the pivot-ring the lever rides on might not be quite set in its channel. Also low-key, but it could lead to the described symptoms.

Any advice or links to help me regarding how best to remove the pressure bar and/or the pivot ring? I would love to find out how to do this myself.
Thanks,
Cholupa
