Full Version: An English "51" find

I've bought a 1949 English "51" vacumatic with this clip (the third one). This is the first time I have seen this clip. The cap has a few battle scars and there's a cut through the plastic jewel, but still it looks lovely. I especially like its wide cap band.

The second line of imprint is: "REG.T.M.640244", what does this mean?

I am puzzling over the colour of this pen. It looks like forest green (a very deep shade of green) but according to Parker 51.com and Richard's Pens, forest green is only avalable on the aero-metric ones; on the other hand, the colour is avaiable from 1948 whereas mine is a 1949 (although a first quarter 1949). I think both of these websites are based on U.S. made "51"s, does any one know the colours for English "51"s?

Thank you.

I will try to post some photographs if I can get tolerably visible ones...

Rareish pen IMHO, they were only made at the Newhaven factory for a short time and had a different cap to the US ones.

...

This is probably short for 'REGistered Trade Mark 640244'.

Richard.
